Abstract
Describes an arrangement in which the saw blade comprises teeth (10) provided with alternating lateral bending interleaved with concave regions (20), the said toothing (10) and the base (11 ) of said toothing (10) being hard-chromium coated by electroplating.
Description
CONSTRUCTIVE ARRANGEMENT IN SAW BLADE
The present utility model relates to a constructive arrangement in saw blade. More specifically, it includes a saw blade, preferably a band saw or circular saw, with the toothing and the base of said toothing being hard-chromium coated by electroplating.
Saws are tools frequently used in the timber industry for straight or irregular cut of thick materials.
Saws have an edge with a disposition of alternate teeth having a slight lateral bending, allowing the cutting operation to open a groove wider than the blade thickness, so that the blade is allowed to work freely within the timber.
Due to the impacts associated with the frequent cutting operations, the blade teeth change progressively their geometry to the straight disposition. Consequently, the blade begins to open a narrower groove in the wood, so preventing the cutting operation. Therefore, this friction generates excessive heat on the blade surface, which then promotes its rupture.
Moreover, the corrosive agents present in the wood sap cause corrosion on the blade.
The state of the art presents developments related to the shape of the teeth and the saw body, aiming to reduce breakage and wear, as well as the coating of the teeth by chromium-vanadium steel, carbon steel, among others, to extend the life of these blades.
However, saws are tools widely used, needing frequent replacement, mainly due to rupture or frequent sharpening, increasing the costs of timber industry operations.
Thus, there is a need for a saw able to maintain its physical integrity when subject to attack by corrosive agents, as well as
maintain the misalignment [setting] of its teeth, to prevent blade rupture caused by friction during cutting, such constructive arrangement in saw blade being described and claimed in this application.
Generally, the present utility model relates to a constructive arrangement in saw blade, comprising the toothing and the base of said toothing being hard-chromium coated by electroplating.
It is characteristic for the utility model a constructive disposition in saw blade having the saw teeth and the base of saw teeth hard- chromium coated by electroplating process, which increases the durability of the saw blade's teeth setting and sharpness, compared to conventional blades of the state of the art.
It is characteristic for the utility model a constructive disposition in saw blade that maintains the blade integrity when subjected to corrosive agents present in the wood sap.
The figures below are presented in order to describe better the technical characteristics of the constructive disposition in saw:
Figure 1 presents the top view of a saw blade, showing the toothing misalignment [setting], while Figure 1A represents the blade in its initial state, and Figure 1B represents the blade with its teeth nearly aligned.
Figure 2 presents the saw blade, evidencing the hard-chromium coated regions and the non-coated regions.
The present utility model consists in the constructive arrangement comprising a saw having the edge with a disposition of teeth provided with an alternating lateral bending (10), said teeth (10) interleaved with concave regions (20).
The toothing (10) and the base (11 ) of said toothing (10) are hard-
chromium coated by electroplating, as shown in Figure 2, while the concave regions (20) are non-coated.
The coating on the base of toothing (1 1 ) prevents the misalignment [setting] of teeth (10) due to the bending stress during cutting, as shown in Figure 1 , which also evidences that, after continuous use, the saw teeth tend to undergo an alignment (Figure 1 B) that is not desired, since it increases the friction between the blade and the wood, causing the rupture of said blade.
The hard-chromium coated teeth (10) remain sharp for much longer than in conventional saw blades, moreover, undergoing a self- sharpening during cutting, since the teeth's internal metallic surface wears out, while maintaining the chromium on the surface.
