Definitions
- This report refers to a patent for a gym dumbbell and, more specifically, a dynamic dumbbell for individual use and supported by one of the athlete's hands for performing bodybuilding exercise.
- the dumbbell is generally comprised of two weights with a cylindrical rod between them.
- the user picks up the dumbbell by the rod, after choosing the most appropriate weight for the exercise, usually the gyms have shelves or frames to receive complete sets of dumbbells, with different weights.
- Weights vary in shape, but usually have the shape of discs, or spheres, or cubes, or prisms in general, without giving up the basic two-weight central-rod shape.
- the mass of the weights represents the effort to lift them, but their inertia is very important to very realistically reproduce the extra forces required for their acceleration in movement.
- the present invention aims to provide a gym dumbbell that provides in a single equipment a dynamism and a variable regarding the weight to be offered to the athlete.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a gym dumbbell that provides a comfortable situation near the hand grip region of the equipment.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a gym dumbbell which, in addition to offering a dynamic load to be borne by the athlete, promotes a vibration in the user's arm whose physiological effect activates bloodstream cells and acts under the lymphatic vessels, improving muscle exercise.
- a gymnastic dumbbell consisting of a hollow cylindrical body with three contiguous cavities formed by two end caps and two intermediate radial walls, between which a concentric fixation is fixed.
- cylindrical handle accessible through a body wall window; this tubular handle being internally provided with at least two bearings on which an axle is mounted, the ends of which pass through the walls and receive eccentric weight flywheels located in the extreme cavities of the body, one of which has an electric motor engaged to the flywheel, and the other extreme cavity a counterweight having its steering wheel a propeller and its cover, with holes in the wall provided for air to be pumped through the propeller.
- Figure 1 is an elevational view of the gym dumbbell object of the present invention
- Fig. 2 is a plan view of the gym dumbbell illustrated in Fig. 1;
- Figure 3 is a longitudinal section of the gym dumbbell object of the present invention.
- FIG 4 is a perspective view of the gym dumbbell illustrated in the previous figures.
- the gymnastics dumbbell adds to the weight and inertia dynamic components of variable frequencies, up to 60 Hz, that promote in the equipment effects of reaction to changes of direction and forced ventilation.
- a fully hollow, dynamic barrel 1 cylindrical or body-shaped dumbbell 1 having two end caps 2 and two radial walls 3 which divide the hollow inner part into three cavities.
- a cylindrical or fusiform handle 4 coaxial to the body 1, which is tubular and has bearings 5 that hold an axis 6, which projects through the walls 3, into the contiguous cavities. from body 1, where its ends are attached to flywheels 7.
- the wall of the body 1 between the walls 3 has a gap or a window 8, which allows the hand of the user to pass when holding the dumbbell by the handle 4.
- FIG 3 shows that in an extreme cavity of body 1, an electric motor 9 is mounted coaxially next to the flywheel 7 to which its axis engages to transmit the rotational motion.
- a counterweight 10 is housed, similar in mass to the one of the motor 9.
- the flywheel 7 of this extreme cavity opposite the motor 9 receives a propeller 11, and the cover 2 of the body 1 and the radial wall 3 on this side have holes 12 through which air circulates, pumped by the propeller 11, which reaches the central compartment where the handle 4 is.
- the periphery next to the caps 2 receives flexible protruding rings 13, as shown in the figures.
- the entire dumbbell body may be coated with flexible, soft material to make its handling safe.
- the figures show that an electric cable 14 communicates the dumbbell with an electrical power source.
- Each flywheel 7 has counterweight or holes designed to make its masses eccentric to shaft 6.
- the power source may have a motor speed regulator 9.
- the dumbbell itself may have engine speed regulation and a digital display to indicate the frequency of motor rotation.
- the dumbbell is connected to the power source, so that the user tune to a frequency that corresponds to the engine speed.
- the handwheels 7, with their eccentric masses transmit to the halter body vibration at the frequency of rotation.
- the dumbbell receives, in addition to weight and inertia, vibration and gyro effect in the form of reactions to angular movements.
- Vibration in the user's arm also has the physiological effect of shaking the cells, blood and lymphatic vessels, thereby improving muscle exercise. Depending on the tuned frequency, the exercise gets more intense in the same dumbbell.
- the internal fan consisting of the propeller 11, causes air to blow through the window 8, running through the user's hand and arm, tending and eliminating heat generated by the muscles of that arm.
- the central cavity of the dumbbell can be reduced to the handle 4 between the walls 3, which is responsible for the stability of the whole set.
- the electric motor 9 may be external to the dumbbell and have a coupling for engagement with the axle 6 of the flywheels 7.
