Description
INTEGRATED SYSTEM FOR BIRDS REPELLING
The invention refers to an integrated system for birds' repelling in the airports area, in order to avoid the violent impact between the plane and the bird.
Several devices and machines are known and have been designed to repel birds, as follows: bio-acoustical calling devices which reproduce the natural scream of birds when captured or attacked by falcon and the natural sound of the falcon in the moment of attack. Their efficiency decreases in a short time due to the fact that birds get used to the sound and return to the field.
Gas cannons, that reproduce the amplified arm fire, adjusted to a timer set according to the environmental needs where placed, are with limited use, because the birds get accustomed the to the sound, and they return to the field.
Acoustical devices send high frequency sounds/noises to scare off the present birds, the results is also for short term, due to the fact that the birds get used to the sound /noise.
The use of ultrasound control method, by copying strong ultrasounds and screams, that can only be heard by birds is efficient only in closed and small spaces, also creating accustoming for birds.
Laser systems that repel birds by sending out green light, are also used for indoor purpose, in buildings with coverage of max. 1000 sqm.
Visual systems using mechanical instruments of compressed air filled plastic balls, rotating belts or belts placed on a field on posts, painted in phosphorescent colours and which only move when there is wind, also repel birds but after a short while the birds return to the field.
The falcon hunting method uses real falcons, trained by skilled persons, who go regularly to airports and release the falcons to attack the birds found in that area, which obviously, fly to other safer areas. In this case the issue is that the flacon does not pretend to hunt, it actually hunts, most of the times it reaches its purpose and kills the bird. In case of large birds, as the sea gull or the raven, even the falcon risks its life, because these species are not intimated by falcons. For this method we need to indicate the high costs related to the skilled personnel for training as well as that fact that the constant presence of flacons in the area is required, otherwise the birds return shortly. One should consider the fact that falcons are birds as well, protected by various international conventions.
The method using trained dogs, Border Collie, to banish the birds descending on the grass area near the runway, is efficient only when the birds get close to the runway where the dog is. But, a dog cannot be all over, where there is no dog, the birds rest peacefully. There is
the risk that a flock of birds land exactly when a plane lands or takes off, and the dog determines the birds to ascend, which increases the possibility for the impact between the plane and the birds. Improper weather conditions can also occur (cold, rain, snow, great heath) when the method's efficiency decreases.
Generally these systems used for repelling birds create accustoming in a short period of time, the birds become insensitive to these systems and allow their settlement and have low coverage. In case of using lasers, stroboscopes, ultrasounds the wanted effect is only obtained in closed spaces. Use of the "falcon hunt" method and "trained dogs" method implies high costs, is not safe and does not comply with international regulations in terms of animal protection.
The purpose of the invention is to achieve an integrated system for birds' repelling, efficient in all seasons, at low costs, without the birds getting used to it and which should ensure airport safety against potential birdstrike.
The system according to the invention description, eliminates disadvantages of the other known systems by being an integrated system, which combines the visual and sound system and consists of: a high post on which a prey bird shape is fastened, on an arm support, a counterweight, an acoustic digital system that imitates the noise made by the prey birds during the attack as well as noises made by the attacked birds, a battery power system and a solar panel or electric current and with a motor inside the post that actuates a rotating head, which moves the prey bird, simulating the natural flight of the living falcon. The system is provided with photocells and timers, and by means of asymmetrical functioning programming a permanent alarm state is maintained in the environment, thus creating panic among the birds, not allowing them to settle in the system's operating area, and avoiding potential birdstrikes.
The invention presents the following advantages:
- a permanent panic and restlessness state is created, not allowing the birds to settle in the system's operating area, thus avoiding birdstrikes
- does not create habitude for the birds and is safe in operation
- has a coverage surface three times of the devices, machines and used methods
- is ecologic, protects both animals as well as birds
- safe functioning and simple maintenance
- the system is modular, with low costs, has a design that fits with the environment where it is placed
- can be used for any field where there is birdstrike (airports, agriculture, fish-breeding, etc), especially in open spaces, where the known systems have not proven their desired efficiency
Further an example is provided of the invention achievement connected to fig.1. and 2, which represents:
fig.1.- front overview
fig.2.- side overview
The integrated system for bird repelling includes a high post 5 on which the prey bird shape 1 is fastened, an arm support 2, a counterweight 3, an acoustic digital system 8 which imitates the noise produced during the attack as well as the noise of the attacked birds, a power system 7 with battery and solar panel 6 or electric power and a motor inside the post actuating a rotating head 4 which moves the prey bird 1 placed on the arm support 2, thus simulating the natural flight of the living falcon. The sound alarm and a device which copy the sound of birds in the fear state and of the prey bird in the attack state, which renders the prey bird in rotation the maximum effect of virtual reality. The system is provided with photocells and timers, and by means of asymmetrical functioning programming a permanent alarm state is maintained in the environment, thus creating panic among the birds, not allowing them to settle in the system's operating area, and avoiding potential birdstrikes.
