Abstract

본 발명에 의한 이차전지는, 전극조립체; 상기 전극조립체가 내부에 수용된 외장케이스; 일측이 상기 외장케이스 외측으로 돌출되도록 상기 외장케이스에 장착되어 상기 전극조립체와 전기적으로 연결되며, 상기 외장케이스의 내외부를 연통시키는 벤트홀이 내부에 형성된 단자; 상기 외장케이스나 단자보다 낮은 용융점을 갖는 저융점물질을 결합 매개체로 상기 벤트홀을 덮어 밀봉시키는 밀봉캡을 포함하여 구성된다. 본 발명에 의한 이차전지는 내부의 온도 또는 압력이 기준치 이상으로 상승되었을 때 자동으로 벤트홀이 개방되므로, 외장케이스 팽창에 따른 폭발을 방지할 수 있고, 내부에서 발생되는 가스를 외부로 배출시키는 시기를 정확하게 설계할 수 있으며, 벤트홀 개방 시 파단부위가 형성되지 아니하므로 인체 상해를 방지할 수 있다는 장점이 있다.
