Abstract

An external gear pump (14) comprises two rotatable gear wheels (100, 102) that mesh with each other. According to the invention, at least one gear wheel (100) is mounted, in relation to the rotational axis (132) thereof, in the radial direction by the contact of tooth tips (162) directed radially outward with a mounting surface (136) located radially outward. The operating behavior and efficiency of the external gear pump (14) according to the invention are improved by optimized guidance of the liquid to be delivered both on the suction side and on the pressure side by means of openings (170, 174) and channels (172, 176).
