Definitions
- the present invention relates to a phase inverter, and more particularly, to a microstrip phase inverter for inverting a phase directly without a converter for changing a line or the like required for a conventional phase inverter.
- a common way to change the phase of a signal transmitted in the microwave band is to adjust the length of the transmission line. For example, if the length of the transmission line is longer by 1/2 wavelength, the phase may be delayed by 180 ° to reverse the phase of the signal. However, increasing the length of the transmission line inverts the phase of the signal increases the volume of the system.
- phase inverter As a device for changing the phase by 180 ° while maintaining the magnitude of the input signal, it is necessary to change the phase to a smaller size by using a phase inverter.
- phase inverters are applied to 180 ° hybrids, branch line couplers, and bandpass filters in the microwave band to reduce their size.
- the shorter the length the smaller the amount of change in phase with respect to frequency, so that the bandwidth can be obtained. .
- FIG. 1 shows a conventional parallel line phase inverter
- FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram for explaining a conventional same planar line phase inverter.
- the 1 is configured by connecting via pins 10 and 11 to two parallel lines with a dielectric layer interposed therebetween.
- the upper part of the parallel line is the signal lines 12 and 13 through which signals flow, and the lower part is the ground lines 14 and 15.
- the currents flowing along the signal lines 12 and 13 are transmitted to the ground lines 15 and 14 through the via pins 11 and 10, respectively, and the currents flowing along the ground lines 14 and 15 are connected to the via pins 10 and 13, respectively. 11)) to the signal lines 13 and 12, respectively. Therefore, since the current directions of both sides are reversed based on the via pins 10 and 11, the signal phase is inverted by 180 °.
- the signal current of the signal line 16 flows to the ground line 19, and the current flowing to the signal line 17 flows to the ground line 18 through the via pin 20.
- the signal phase is reversed by 180 °.
- the two phase inverter structures described above have a structure in which the ground line is equal to the width of the signal line.
- the microstrip line corresponds to the signal line and the portion between the signal line and the dielectric and functions as a ground line is composed of a ground substrate.
- These microstrip lines are mostly applied to microwave passive devices. In order to invert the phase of a signal on a microstrip line in a conventional microwave passive element, a separate device for converting the microstrip line into a parallel conductor line is required. Therefore, there is a problem that the volume of the conventional microwave passive element becomes large.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems of the prior art, and provides a microstrip phase inverter that directly inverts the phase of a transmission signal of the microstrip line without requiring an additional line converter.
- a slotted ground substrate A dielectric layer formed on the ground substrate; A first microstrip lead connected to a signal line of a first port and stacked and extending on an upper surface of one side of the dielectric layer; A second microstrip lead, which is opposed to the first microstrip lead, is connected to a signal line of a second port, and is stacked on an upper surface of the other dielectric layer; And first and second via pins connected between one end of each of the extended first and second microstrip wires and the ground substrate to transfer first and second currents.
- the slot is connected to the ground substrate such that the first and second currents flowing from the ground substrate through the first and second via pins are separated from each other in signal form to form an electric field with the second and first microstrip leads. Characterized in that formed.
- the slot is formed on the ground substrate in a direction crossing the first and second via pins, leaving the contact portion to which the first and second via pins are connected, and crossing the first and second via pins. It is characterized by.
- the length of the slot is characterized in that it is set to the size that resonates with the frequency of the signal transmitted from the first and second microstrip leads.
- the length of the slot is characterized in that 0.4 to 0.8 times the wavelength of the signal transmitted to the first and second microstrip wires.
- the slot is characterized in that it is formed in a zigzag form.
- the width of the slot is characterized in that 0.05mm to 0.5mm.
- the microstrip phase inverter according to the present invention does not require an additional device for converting the microstrip line.
- the signal can be inverted in a small phase.

- FIG. 3 is a schematic view of a microstrip phase inverter according to the present invention
- FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the microstrip phase inverter of FIG.
- the microstrip phase inverter includes a ground substrate 200 for transmitting signals, a slot 202 for blocking signal flow from the ground substrate, and a dielectric layer 204 stacked on the ground substrate 200.
- the microstrip phase inverter illustrated in FIG. 3 faces the first microstrip lead 206 and the first microstrip lead 208 extended from one side of the dielectric layer 204 to extend from each other. And a second microstrip lead 208 stacked on and extending from the other side of the dielectric layer 204.
- the microstrip strip inverter is connected between the extended ends of each of the first and second microstrip wires 206 and 208 and the ground substrate 200 to transmit the first and second via pins 210. , 212).
- the first and second via pins 210 and 212 are connected to the ground substrate 200 and the extended terminals of the first and second microstrip leads 206 and 208, respectively, similarly to the conventional phase inverter.
- the first and second via pins 210 and 212 respectively transmit a current flowing through the microstrip wires 206 and 208 to the ground substrate 200 which is divided so as to be separated from each other on a signal by the slot 202. do.
- the slot 202 crosses the first and second microphone strip leads 206 and 208 and leaves the contact portion to which the first and second via pins 210 and 212 are connected, and the first and second via pins. It is formed continuously to the ground substrate 200 in a direction crossing the (210, 212). Thus, the slot 202 blocks the signal flow between the first and second via pins 210 and 212. Therefore, when the slot 202 resonates at the frequency of the transmitted signal, signal currents flowing from the port 1 and the port 2 to the first and second microstrip leads 206 and 208 are respectively bounded by the slot 202. Through the separated via pins 210 and 212, an electric field is formed between the second and first microstrip leads 208 and 206 and the ground substrate 200, respectively. As a result, the signal current flows to the ground substrate 200 divided into signals, respectively. Accordingly, phase inversion can be achieved without loss of the signal at the frequency of the signal at which the slot 202 resonates.
- the design of the slot 202 is important because the signal transmitted through the slot 202 can be radiated and also the signal between the two lines is not transmitted well. If the width of the slot 202 is wide or the slot is aligned, radiation occurs through the slot. Therefore, in order to reduce the effects of radiation, the slot 202 is formed in a zigzag shape, and the width of the slot 202 is preferably narrowed to 0.05 mm to 0.5 mm.
- Strip phase inverter of the embodiment of the present invention was manufactured using a substrate having a dielectric constant of 2.2 thickness 0.508mm.
- the widths of the first and second microstrip wires 206 and 208 were 1.55 mm so that the impedance was 50 ⁇ , and the radius of the via pins 210 and 212 was 0.3 mm.
- the length L in the longitudinal direction of the ground substrate 200 was 30 mm, and the slot 202 was designed to resonate at 2.34 GHz, so that the slot 202 length was 86 mm. In general, resonance is formed in the slot 202 at a length of about half wavelength. However, when the zigzag shape is applied to the slot 202, resonance occurs in the slot having a longer length, so that the slot length is set slightly longer than the half wavelength.
- the series inductance L v and the parallel resonant circuit 30 are composed of L 0 and C 0 .
- the series inductance is for indicating the inductance component caused by the first and second via pins 210 and 212
- the parallel resonant circuit 30 is for indicating the resonance caused by the slot 202.
- phase difference is a phase difference obtained by subtracting the phase of the transmission line from the phase of the phase inverter. When the difference reaches 180 °, the phase inversion is well performed.
- phase difference is achieved with a phase difference of 190 ° to 200 ° around the resonant frequency (2.34 GHz).
- the maximum transmission coefficient (S21) of the phase inverter is -0.39 dB and the phase difference is 193 °.
- the transmission coefficient of the microstrip wire is -0.23 dB.
- the phase difference is 180 °, but about 13 ° is further delayed because of the additional phase delay caused by the via pin. Therefore, by slightly reducing the length of the line including the phase inverter can be compensated to have a phase difference of 180 °.
- the transmission coefficient of the present invention has been applied and the transmission coefficient has been lowered to -0.16 dB, this is a sufficiently acceptable value.
- the bandwidth of the phase inverter is within 0.3 dB of the transmission coefficient of the conventional microstrip line and the phase difference is within ⁇ 5 °, the bandwidth corresponds to 11%. This is enough to integrate and use in microwave passive devices.
- the present invention can be applied to a microstrip phase inverter which inverts the phase directly without a converter for changing the line or the like which is required when applying the phase inverter to the microstrip line.

Description

V = 0.4 nH, L
0 = 5 nH, and C
0 = 1.43 pF이 된다.
