Abstract

This invention relates to a reinforced prefabricated open-web girder that is self-supporting or propped in the centre and that works primarily as a frame and secondarily as a doubly reinforced beam, manufactured using a lightweight-prefabrication method, with a frame and a lower concrete heel reinforced horizontally in a first stage, then the remainder is poured and reinforced on site with higher compression strength characteristics at its extremities, which is capable of withstanding any plastic hinges that occur; it is also reinforced along the body of the girder to withstand the total diagonal stress. On the ends of the girder are placed shear connectors that are supported on the column and that bear twice the load; the body of the girder is reinforced with vertical braces, continuous rods and the diagonals of the frame, all of which double the safety factor in order for the diagonal stress on the girder to be absorbed.
