Abstract

A transport system and more particularly an elevated public transport system is provided. This system relates to public transportation in the urban transit industry and specifically to a city rapid transit system capable of attaining a higher person per hour per direction capacity matching elevated urban rail rapid transportation. Thus the system is an improvement in mass transportation which reduces congestion, energy consumption and air pollution, thus making public transport very attractive.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 10 May 2011 (10.05.2011 )
1. A completely elevated public transport system for transporting people and or goods comprising:
Elevated roads/guideways with one or more lanes adjacent to one another;
A series of pneumatic tyre bus based rolling stocks/carriages running on an arrangement of dedicated elevated roads/guideways and lanes;
Elevated stops /stations in the lanes with access ways through skywalks / Foot over Bridges (FOB), escalators, staircases and lifts for boarding and alighting of passengers; and
Roof mounted solar panels,
wherein the elevated roads/guideways and stations are built using light weight, steel intensive Off-site' pre-fabricated structures,
wherein the rolling stocks are normal vehicles including single vehicles or in a convoy of vehicles or as a train running at grade,
wherein the rolling stocks are not attached to the elevated roads/guideways or suspended and employs a guidance system of mechanical, electrical or magnetic type, the said guidance system is on the internal of the track and not continuously attached to the track of the rolling stock, wherein vehicle lifts are provided to transfer rolling stock to and from the grade in case of absence of ramps,
wherein the roads/guideways can be an open one way and two way alignment or in closed alignments forming endless one way loops with a series of elevated stops for passengers to board and depart,
wherein the roads/guideways loops are juxtaposed with other loops at one or more common interchange stations,
wherein the roof mounted solar panels generate electricity to operate the rolling stocks on grade, wherein the elevated roads/guideways are dedicated for bus based vehicles and not open to public vehicles, and
wherein the system provides segregation from other modes of transport on grade.
2. The completely elevated public transport system as claimed in claim 1, wherein at the end of the lane alignment it is provided for the rolling stocks to get off the guideway and enter a depot and get back on the guideway for the return trip.
3. The completely elevated public transport system as claimed in claim 1, wherein a GPS based locating and signaling technology is provided to track all the rolling stock and to synchronize movements.
4. The completely elevated public transport system as claimed in anyone of claims 1 to 3, wherein the rolling stocks operates and charges the onboard batteries electrically at stations and en-route the guideways by tapping power from overhead power lines or side / bottom mounted bus bars through pantographs.
5. The completely elevated public transport system as claimed in claim 4, wherein the batteries are charged at stations and the power is transmitted to the vehicles through over head wires or replaced en masse using quick change arrangements in the stations.
6. The completely elevated public transport system as claimed in anyone of claims 1 to 5, wherein the system have super capacitors for alternate storage systems and inductors for rapid charging of storage devices.
7. The completely elevated public transport system as claimed in claim 1 to 6, wherein the electricity generated can be from any renewable energy source with surplus traded back to the state grid.
