Definitions

  • This case relates to a communication device, an information processing device, and a communication control method.
  • the power consumption of the LAN chip may be more than doubled between 1000BASE-T having a high communication speed and 100BASE-TX having a low communication speed in a wired LAN. For this reason, when continuous communication is performed using such a communication method, communication that guarantees quality (and data communication itself) is not always performed in the network. Maintaining a state in which large high-speed communication is possible is a wasteful power consumption, which is not preferable from the viewpoint of energy saving.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a communication device, an information processing device, and a communication control method for achieving the above.
  • the disclosed communication apparatus includes an input unit for inputting data, a priority determination unit for determining a priority of the data input by the input unit, and an output unit for outputting the data at a set communication speed.
  • a priority determination unit for determining a priority of the data input by the input unit
  • an output unit for outputting the data at a set communication speed.
  • the disclosed communication device information processing device, and communication control method, by changing the communication speed based on the priority of data communication, it is possible to save power by suppressing the communication speed of low priority data. • the input means 1a can be connected to another communication device or an apparatus having a communication function such as an information processing apparatus through a communication path.

  • the priority is included in the ToS (Type of service) field of the IP (Internet Protocol address) packet, the destination address included in the LAN frame or IP packet, the destination port number included in the IP packet, etc. Can be determined based on information indicating whether or not transmission is required.
  • QoS is a technology that reserves a bandwidth for a specific communication and guarantees a certain communication speed, and is a service that prevents communication delays and stops, such as real-time delivery of audio and video and videophones. Used.
  • Examples of the QoS standard include IEEE 802.1p and IEEE 802.11e.
  • the speed control means 1c sets the communication speed of the data output from the output means 1d faster when the priority of the data determined by the priority determination means 1b is higher than a predetermined value. On the other hand, when the priority of the data determined by the priority determination unit 1b is lower than a predetermined value, the speed control unit 1c sets the communication speed of the data output from the output unit 1d to be slow. Thereby, data can be transmitted and received at a communication speed corresponding to the determined priority.
  • the output unit 1d outputs output data at the set communication speed. Data output from the output unit 1d is transferred to another communication device or the like through a communication path. As a result, by changing the communication speed based on the priority of data communication, the data communication speed of low priority data is suppressed, thereby rationally reducing high-speed communication with high power consumption and saving power. Description

QoSの標準規格には、IEEE802.1pや、IEEE802.11e等がある。
また、VLANタグは、プライオリティ(priority)、CFI(Canonical Format Indicator)、VLAN IDを有する。
CFIは、MACアドレスの表記形式(CSMA/CD(Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Detection)形式か、またはFDDI(Fiber-Distributed Data Interface)形式か)を指定する1ビットの領域である。
なお、パケットのプライオリティを示すために、DSCP(DiffServ Code Point)を用いてもよい。

図16に示す情報処理装置300は、CPU(Central Processing Unit)301によって装置全体が制御されている。
光ディスクには、DVD(Digital Versatile Disc)、DVD-RAM(Random Access Memory)、CD-ROM(Compact Disc - Read Only Memory)、CD-R(Recordable)/RW(ReWritable)等がある。光磁気記録媒体には、MO(Magneto - Optical disk)等がある。
