Abstract

본 발명은 다차원 정수 변환을 이용한 영상 부호화/복호화 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 서브블록을 직사각형 블록 단위로 분할하여 단계적으로 부호화함으로써 각 서브블록에 대한 직사각 부호화 비트스트림을 출력하고, 서브블록을 정사각형 블록 단위로 부호화함으로써 각 서브블록에 대한 정사각 부호화 비트스트림을 출력하는 단계; 직사각 부호화 비트스트림을 적어도 하나 이상 포함하는 경우의 부호화 비용을 계산하고, 직사각 부호화 비트스트림을 포함하지 않는 경우의 부호화 비용을 계산하여 그를 기초로 정사각 부호화 비트스트림 및 직사각 부호화 비트스트림 중 하나 이상을 이용하여 매크로블록에 대한 비트스트림을 생성하고 출력하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 영상 부호화 방법을 제공한다. 본 발명에 의하면, 영상을 부호화하거나 복호화할 때 부호화 효율이 좋은 방식으로 부호화 방식을 선택적으로 결정할 수 있어, 예측의 정확도를 높이고 그를 통해 영상의 부호화 효율을 향상시킬 수 있다.
