Abstract
A hydrogen generator (1) comprising a plurality of electrode plates (7, 9) for connection to an electrical power supply, an inlet (4) for suppling water to between the electrode plates, and an outlet (2) for outputting gas formed when an electrical power is applied to the electrode plates (7, 9). The electrode plates (7,9) are spaced apart by gaskets (10) formed of a material having a carbon release temperature above 800C. One or more neutral plates (8) can be provided between the electrode plates (7, 9), with the plates being spaced in the range of 1 to 3 mm apart from one another. The generator can have inclined sides for collecting the gas at the top thereof for output through said outlet (2). A water composition comprising a mixture of distilled water and sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, wherein said sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide is mixed at a ratio of 10 to 12 g per litre of water, is used in the hydrogen generator.
