Abstract
Provided are a WC-Fe-based cemented carbide and a method for producing same, wherein no pore is formed and WC is uniformly distributed to achieve improved mechanical properties and wear resistance, as well as superior bondability to carbon steel. For this purpose, the method for producing a WC-Fe-based cemented carbide according to the present invention comprises the steps of: mixing together 5 to 40 wt % of Fe, 1 to 10 wt % of an element that cooperates with the Fe to form a solid solution, 0.1 to 3 wt % of a material which enhances the wettability of the portion to be bonded to another material, and the remainder consisting of WC; drying the mixture; molding the dried mixture into a molded body; sintering the molded body; and cooling the sintered alloy. As Fe, which is employed as a binder for WC in the present invention, is extremely cheaper than conventional Co or Ni, the costs of producing cemented carbide can be remarkably reduced.
