Abstract
La présente invention concerne des dispositifs destinés à la modulation de phase de faisceaux lumineux au moyen de cellules d'électromouillage à lame parallélépipédique. Ces dispositifs ont été modifiés pour moduler en amplitude ou de façon complexe la lumière cohérente sur le principe de l'interféromètre de Fabry-Pérot. Chaque cellule d'électromouillage du dispositif comporte une chambre renfermant trois fluides définissant deux interfaces servant de lame parallélépipédique. Des organes de commande (CM) mettent en œuvre des électrodes (U1, U2, D3, U4) pour commander les interfaces. La lame parallélépipédique ainsi réalisée peut subir une inclinaison variable permettant la modulation de phase. Pour la modulation d'amplitude, les masques (AM) de la chambre comportent une garniture réfléchissante partiellement transparente (V), chacune de ces garnitures réfléchissant plusieurs fois à l'intérieur de la chambre le faisceau lumineux incident. Il est possible de commander l'inclinaison de la lame parallélépipédique sur une longueur du trajet optique restant dans les limites de la demi-longueur d'ondes de la lumière utilisée. À chaque changement de phase dans cette zone correspond une valeur d'amplitude. D'autres modes de modulation sont possibles en modifiant le dispositif. L'invention pourra s'appliquer notamment à l'affichage holographique.
