Abstract

L’invention concerne des procédés et appareils permettant d'injecter un réactif, comme une solution d'urée aqueuse, dans un courant d’échappement afin de réduire les émissions d’un pot d’échappement de moteur. Les présents enseignements permettent d’utiliser une plaque tourbillonnante présentant une pluralité de fentes tourbillonnantes entourant un orifice de sortie d’un injecteur, fentes qui produisent un flux rotatif à grande vitesse dans la chambre tourbillonnante. Lorsque le flux rotatif de réactif passe à travers l’orifice de sortie dans un courant d’échappement, un phénomène d’atomisation se produit à partir d'une combinaison de force centrifuge et du cisaillement du réactif par l’air en pénétrant dans le courant d’échappement.
