Description

DESCRIPTION:
AUTOMATIC, SINGLE-SWING ESP AGNOLETTE BOLT WITH ADJUSTABLE APERTURE
This innovation relates to the automatic single-swing espagnolette bolt which is fitted to
PVC, aluminum and wooden casement windows and doors, facilitates opening them sideways automatically and has adjustable aperture feature.
Either at homes or at the offices, space ventilation is unavoidable for fresh air requirement. According to the degree of needs, ventilation is carried out by way of opening windows and doors wide or fixing them at a certain distance to obtain proper aperture for fresh air.
hi order to keep doors and windows fixed at certain distance, double-swing type espagnolettes are used in the existing technology. Double-swing type espagnolettes provide the ventilation aperture via keeping windows or panes at tilt and turn position. This double-swing type espagnolette system consists of so many parts that they occupy whole circumference of a window wing. In general, the assembly of double-swing typfc espagnolette system is accomplished by locating the parts as follows; moving joint at the lower part of the window wing to the side, hinge at the upper part of wing, lower strike at the lower part of window frame, fixed joint strike at lower right side of the frame with the aid of a template and integrating other complementary parts. Since a trouble-free assembly of double-swing type espagnolette is too hard to carry out, that's why competent personnel must be employed for this kind of service. Besides that, due to its sophisticated structure, the price and labour costs are also pretty high. The door and window wings equipped with double-swing espagnolette system experience sagging failure in the course of service time. Besides all of these disadvantages, additional investments on providing security for door and windows also adds up to and increase the total system cost.
Because of the aforementioned disadvantages of double-swing type espagnolette, a need l is born to improve the single-swing espagnolette bolt. A functional clip is added (i^po the single-swing espagnolette so that door or window can be fixed at a certain distance in horizontal swing position to provide a desired ventilation aperture. This way, single- swing espagnolette is enhanced to double-swing espagnolette specifications. Furthermore the double-swing system works manually.
This innovation related to the automatic single-swing espagnolette bolt which is used for PVC, aluminum and wooden casement door and window wings and facilitates opening the wings sideways (swing) automatically and has adjustable aperture feature, completely eliminates the disadvantages discussed above, and has the following property; it initiates and accomplishes the ventilation operation of the single-swing espagnolette but automatically with a handle, by means of the hooking mechanism mounted on a fixed rod and moving rod and mainly comprising parts viz. fixed housing for mechanism, mechanism power transmission part, aperture hook for mechanism, plastic part on fixed housing and aperture hook compression spring.
Through our innovation, double-swing system characteristics has been realized modifying the single-swing espagnolette. That means; the function of the double-swing espagnolette that has a complicated structure in the existing technology can be automatically performed using single-swing espagnolette that has fewer parts.
Since the single-swing espagnolette with adjustable aperture feature has no complicated structure, pertinent costs are low and the mounting is rather simplified. Thus, mounting operation is handled without causing any trouble and labour costs are reduced.
The single-swing espagnolette with adjustable aperture feature secures the wings of doors and windows, thus prevents the doors and windows to sag in the course of service time and provides safety for the door and window wings while they are at ventilation position.
This innovation is explained in more detailed manner solely through illustrations referencing the following drawings, on these drawings:

Regarding this innovation, automatic single-swing espagnolette with adjustable aperture feature, if you consider the structure as a whole, there are fixed rod of the espagnolette
(1) and moving rod of the espagnolette (2) attached to it, and hooking mechanism (12) consisting of mechanism fixed housing part (3), mechanism power transmission part (4), aperture hook for mechanism (5), fixed housing plastic part (6), aperture hook compression spring (7), aperture hook fixing pin (8), fixing pin of the power transmission part (9), power transmission pin (10), connection pin for housing and espagnolette (11), and fixed rod of the espagnolette (1) and moving rod of the espagnolette (2) attached to it in order to lock the door or window wing, and male gear guard (13), female gear guard (14), gear (15), eccentric lock bolt (16) and lock bolt bushing (17), aperture hook strike (18) on the frame and strike pin (19). Assembly of the hooking mechanism (12) is actualized as follows; mechanism power transmission part (4) and mechanism aperture hook (5) are placed into the space under the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism created by the bent forms (3a) of the fixed housing on the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism and the plastic part (6) of the mechanism is placed onto the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism.
Connection of the mechanism power transmission part (4) is performed as in the following way; power transmission pin (10) is inserted into the pin hole (4e) on the mechanism power transmission part (4). Power transmission pin (10) will be utilised to connect fixed rod of the espagnolette (1) to moving rod (2) of the espagnolette in the hooking mechanism. Fixing pins of the power transmission part (9) are mounted from the upper surface of fixing pin holes (4d) on the power transmission part (4) of the mechanism which is under the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism, moving part slot (3d) on the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism and fixed housing slot (6a) on the plastic part (6) of the fixed housing.
Now, we will put the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism into its place; after the direction of the aperture hook (5) is adjusted in compliant with the due opening direction of the window, fixing pin (8) of the aperture hook is inserted through the fixing pin hole (5e) of the hook and the hook connection hole (3c) on fixed housing (3) of the mechanism and done. Later, compression spring (7) of the is attacched djito the joinining form (5g) of the compression spring on aperture hook (5) of the mechanism. Finallized complete assembly of the hooking mechanism (12) is placed onto the superposed fixed rod of the espagnolette (1) and moving rod (2) of the espagnolette. Power transmission pin (10) on the mechanism power transmission part (4) which is placed under the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism is fixed onto the the power transmission slot (Ia) on the fixed rod of the espagnolette (1) and power transmission pin hole (2a) on the moving rod (2) of the espagnolette. In order to mount the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism onto the fixed rod of the espagnolette (1) and moving rod (2) of the espagnolette, connection pins (11) for joining fixed housing and espagnolette are placed into detachable joint forms (3e) on the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism, detachable joint and tapped holes (Ib) on the fixed rod of the espagnolette (1) and slot for detachable joint holes (2b) on the moving rod (2) of the espagnolette. At the end, assembly of the hooking mechanism (12) onto the fixed rod of the espagnolette (1) and the moving rod (2) of the espagnolette.
. '. * i Eccentric lock bolt (16) is fastened onto the eccentric lock bolt .holes (Ic) on the transposed and fixed assembly of fixed rod of the espagnolette (1) and the moving rod (2) of the espagnolette on which the hooking mechanism (12) is mounted, and the eccentric lock bolt holes (2c). Then, the lock bolt bushing (17) is put over the eccentrid lock bolt (16).
The gear (15) which actuates the espagnolette is put into the male gear guard (13) and female gear guard (14) and then transferred and fixed onto fixed rod (1) of the espagnolette and moving rod (2) of the espagnolette.
After completing and finallizing the assembly of the espagnolette, the system as a whole is placed properly to the wings of doors or windows and is screwed and fixed to the wing through the holes on the fixed onto the fixed rod (1) of the espagnolette and
1 ,' .J1 moving rod (2) of the espagnolette and the wing fixing holes (3f) on the fixed housing
" j 1 part (3) of the mechanism. As the last step, door or window handle is attached to the gear (15) onto the fixed rod (1) of the espagnolette and moving rod (2) of the espagnolette and strike plate (18) for aperture hook is fixed to the case frame accordingly. Now is the time for the door or window wing to accomplish its planned task.
There is a possibility to mount the hooking mechanism (12) onto the espagnolette so* that the wing could be set to right-hand or left-hand condition according to the needs' with the convenience provided by the detachable joining form (3e) on the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism.
The door or window handle is turned 90° in order to open the wing of the door or window. When the handle is turned 90°, it becomes horizontal and the gear (15) located in the male gear guard (13) and female gear guard (14) also turns 90°. The rotation of the gear (15) actuates the moving rod (2) of the espagnolette and consequently eccentric lock bolts (16) on the fixed rod (1) of the espagnolette and moving rod (2) of the espagnolette and the lock bolt bushings (17) are released from corresponding strike holes on the frame and the wing is opened. Since the 90°-movement-of the handle and the gear (15) does not triger the hooking mechanism (12), while opening the wing of door or window, the hooking mechanism (12) stays locked and does not fluctuate.
When the handle is turned further 90° in the downward direction in order for the door or window wing to be closed and locked, the reverse cyle of movements occur as in the case of opening the door and eccentric lock bolts (16) and lock bolt bushings (17) on the fixed rod (1) of the espagnolette and moving rod (2) of the espagnolette return to their corresponding strike holes on the frame and locking operation is done. Since the 90°- movement of the handle and the gear (15) does not triger the hooking mechanism (12), again, while closing the wing of door or window, the hooking mechanism (12) stays locked and does not fluctuate.
The 90°-downward or upward movement of the door or window handle, is the conventional way of controlling the locking system in the existing technology. If the door or window wing is to be set in a certain aperture position while it is closed, the handle must be turned 180° when the door or window wing is in closed position. Whilst the gear (15) of the single-swing espagnolette can turn 90° in the existing technology, with our innovation this becomes 180°. When the gear (15) turns 180°, the eccentric lock bolts (16) and the lock bolt bushings (17) are released from the corresponding places on the frame and at the same time the fixing pins (9) of the power transmission part move linearly inside the moving part slot (3d) and fixed housing slot (6a). The linear movement of the fixing pins of the power transmission part (9) ensures the forward movement of the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism under the power transmission part (4) of the mechanism. As a result of this movement, hook fixing notch (5c) located inside the hook fixing slot (4a) on the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism comes out. Hook-open lock point (5i) related to aperture hook (5) of the mechanism touches the hook-rotation strike plate (4b). Aperture hook (5) of the mechanism secured by the fixing pin (8) of the aperture hook starts to rotate and hook head (5j) on the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism goes into the strike hole (4f) for hook head on the power transmission part (4) of the mechanism. While the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism opens, compression spring (7) of the aperture hook touches the compression spring notch on the plastic part (6) of the mechanism and thus prevents the vibration of the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism. While the hook (5) opens, the hook slot (5b) on the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism, encloses the corresponding strike pin (19) on the aperture strike plate (18). When hook head (5j) perfectly fits to strike hole (4f) for the hook head, the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism completely opens and male hook locking part (4c) on the power transmission part (4) of the mechanism fits into the female hook locking part (5f) on the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism, and this ensures locking of the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism. Strike pin (19) also fits compeletely into the corresponding strike hole (5a). This locking operation, by way of limiting the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism, prevents the opening or closing of the horizontally opened door or window and the aperture hook (5) does not move even if it is pushed backward manually or by force.
The plastic part (6) of the mechanism on the fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism ensures the silent operation of the hooking mechanism (12), in addition, controls the hooking mechanism (12) movements in the cases where less aperture size for the door and window wing is desired. In this way; the fixing pin of the power transmission part (9) which moves inside of the moving part slot (3d) and fixed housing slot (6a) comes to stop when it reaches to plastic stopper (6c) on the plastic part (6) of the mechanism. When the fixing pin of the power transmission part (9) stops in the plastic stopper (6c); compression spring (7) of the aperture hook grounds on the stepwise control plate (6e), and the door or window wing can be opened with less aperture size than normal in a controlled manner. The fixing pins of the power transmission part (9) keep on their linear movement in the fixed housing slot (6a) as the handle for the door and window is turned more on. Although the aperture size between the wing and frame can be adjusted by way of opening stepwise, this adjustment can be easily done playing with the length of the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism during its production phase. The plastic layer (6d) on the plastic part (6) of the mechanism prevents the scratching of the surface by compression spring (7) of the aperture hook.
When door or window wing is to be switched over from aperture position into closed position and locked, handle should be turned 180°.
While the handle moves along the first 90°-segment, fixing pin of the power transmission part (9) on the power transmission part (4) of the mechanism under fixed housing part (3) of the mechanism moves linearly in the reverse direction, being driven by the gear (15), in the moving part slot (3d) and fixed housing slot (6a). As a result of this motion, the female hook locking part (5f) on the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism slips out of the male hook locking part (4c) on the power transmission part (4) of the mechanism and the the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism is unlocked. In the mean time, hook head (5j) starts leaving the strike hole (4f) for the hook head and aperture hook (5) of the mechanism being unlocked slips out of strike pin (19) on the aperture strike plate (18) located in the frame and turns downward. While the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism keeps on turning downward, hook-open lock point (5i) meshes the hook-rotation strike plate (4b). When the meshing is totally completed, hook fixing notch (5c) on the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism goes into the hook fixing slot (4a) on the power transmission part (4) of the mechanism. When the fixing pin of the power transmission part (9) on the power transmission part (4) of the mechanism reaches the final position in the moving part slot (3d) and the fixed housing slot (6a), the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism is to be closed and locked by way of hook fixing notch (5c) in the hook fixing slot (4a). Here, another feature of the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism comes into view; when the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism is closed, the recess (5k) on the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism goes into the bending cavity (3b) of the fixed housing and this helps prevent the aperture hook (5) fluctuations of the mechanism by any means. Besides that, the eccentricity between the hook connection hole which the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism is connected with the fixing pin of the aperture hook (8) and the espagnolette axis, facilitates the rotational motion of the aperture hook (5) of the mechanism without any trouble whilst opening and closing.
While the handle rotates along the second 90°-segment, that is wing locking phase, eccentric lock bolts (16) and lock bolt bushings (17) on the fixed rod (1) of the espagnolette and the moving rod (2) of the espagnolette go into the corresponding strike holes on the frame and locking operation is done. While the door or window wing is in locked position, the strike pin (19) on the aperture strike plate (18) which is fixed to the frame must be fitted into the stay for wing (5h) on the aperture hook (5) of the hoqjάng mechanism (12) which is in locked position." In this way, sagging of the wing due to its weight in the course of service time can be prevented. Furthermore, since the strike pin (19) on the aperture strike plate (18) has a poppet head, this provides security against burglary.
