Abstract
The present invention relates to manufacturing of packages for tobacco products, particularly to packages for blocks of cigarettes. The purpose of the present invention is to provide an easy method for removal of individual packs from a cigarette block, while keeping the conventional technology for manufacturing a standard package for a cigarette block generally the same. The problem is solved by a package for a cigarette block formed as a carton of a carton blank and comprising a bottom panel, a top panel with a lateral flap for opening and closing the package, lateral panels with flaps, and a transparent overwrapper fully enclosing the package. A section or opening for removing individual cigarette packs from the carton is arranged on the top panel. The section is defined by a notched line, and the opening is defined by a cut. The notched line or cut extends lengthwise and/or transversally over a distance corresponding to the length and/or width of the cigarette pack, respectively, the area of the section corresponding to the area of the cigarette pack.
Description
A PACKAGE FOR A CIGARETTE BLOCK
The present invention relates to manufacturing of packages for tobacco products, particularly to packages for sigarette blocks. Commonly known (see Russian patent No.2,247,067 of 2005) is a package for a cigarette block comprising a plurality of cigarette packs arranged in rows, the package including a carton embracing the plurality of cigarette packs with its bottom wall, oblong lateral walls and end walls in such way that the plurality of cigarette packs is exposed i.e. not covered or mostly not covered on at least one of the sides having large area, namely top side of the carton. The cigarette packs are arranged in such way that their front surface having a larger area is arranged on the open top side of the carton, and is not covered or mostly not covered by the carton. It shall be noted, however that the cigarette block consisting of the cigarette packs and the carton is fully enclosed in an overwrapper made of a transparent material, e.g. cellophane or polymer film. The device provides easy removal of individual cigarette packs, limited material consumption, and better representation of the package contents. However, the edges of the carton on the top side prevent from quick removal of a single pack due to the fact that the function of these edges is to retain the package in the carton when the transparent film wrapper is removed. Therefore, the seller or cashier has to spend additional time to remove one cigarette pack or several cigarette packs from the package, which may be inconvenient for the buyer.
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for easy removal of individual packs from a cigarette block, whereas the conventional technology for manufacturing a standard package for a cigarette block remains generally the same. ■
The problem is solved by a package for a cigarette block formed as a carton of a carton blank and comprising a bottom panel, a top panel with a lateral flap for opening and closing the package, lateral panels with flaps, and a transparent overwrapper fully enclosing the package, wherein a section for removing individual cigarette packs from the carton is arranged on the top panel, the section being defined by a notched line on the top panel, the notched line extending lengthwise and/or transversally over a distance corresponding to the
length and/or width of the cigarette pack, respectively, the area of the section corresponding to the area of the cigarette pack.
When the transparent overwrapper is removed from one end of the package, this overwrapper is easily slid along the package over a distance suitable to allow opening the section on the top panel, ithe section is easily opened, and the pack is easily removed. By turning the package the blank space is filled by another pack sliding into position where it can be removed.
Therefore it is possible to easily remove packs one by one due to the additional "flap" formed by the notched line on the top panel of the package. The remaining packs remain closed and protected from the environment, and the next pack slid to position where it can be removed, can easily be seen by the buyer or any other observer.
It is possible to close the package fully due to the fact that the section formed by the notched line, as well as the whole top panel, is provided with a lateral flap. The problem is also solved by a package for a cigarette block formed as a carton comprising a bottom panel, a top panel with a lateral flap for opening and closing the package, lateral panels with flaps, and a transparent overwrapper fully enclosing the package, wherein an opening is arranged on the top panel, the area of the opening corresponding to the area of the cigarette pack; the opening being defined by a cut on the top panel, the cut extending lengthwise and/or transversally over a distasnce corresponding to the length and/or width of the cigarette pack, respectively.
When the transparent overwrapper is removed from one end of the package, this overwrapper is easily slid along the package over a distance suitable to allow opening the section on the top panel, the section is easily opened, and the pack is easily removed. By turning the package the blank space is filled by another pack sliding into position where it can be removed. Technologically, the package is very simple in manufacture. The present invention can be used to reduce time spent for removing a cigarette pack from the package by the cashier or seller, particularly during rush hours, and to keep the package in a marketable condition, without visible unevenly torn edges which are unavoidable when using other package designs. Background art: Russian patent 2247067, 2005.
