Abstract

An electronic ballast and fault protection method including an electronic ballast receiving DC power, the electronic ballast including a resonant transformer circuit 20 operably connected to receive the DC power and produce AC power, the resonant transformer circuit (20) having a first switch responsive to a first steering signal 31 and a second switch responsive to a second steering signal (29); a fault sensor (40) operably connected to monitor for faults and generate a disable signal (39); and a disable circuit (38) operably connected to receive the disable signal (39) and disable the second steering signal (29) when the disable signal indicates a fault.
