Definitions
- the object of the present invention is a seal for crown type caps for sealing bottles and other containers containing pressurized liquids (beverages, in particular, cavas, champagne, sparkling wines, etc.), which guarantees the tightness of the bottle to which caps are applied, gasket that with its flat disk shape provided with partial or complete rings is located on the same upper edge of the bottle; and that thanks to its geometry it is maintained in its position in a uniform manner, controlled and pressing on the edge of the bottle by an outer ring, and controlling the radial surface of the shutter uniformly by a second inner ring; and that thanks to the technology and materials used in its elaboration it significantly reduces the costs of its elaboration and the environmental impact.
- pressurized liquids beverages, in particular, cavas, champagne, sparkling wines, etc.
- crown caps in the form of discs, located on the upper end of the mouth of the bottle and with an outer diameter smaller than the outer perimeter of the mouth; others, those closest to the object of the present invention, are in the form of discs, although these are in the form of an inner lining of the cap.
- GB884126 (N 0 5) proposes a sealing gasket with an elastic or deformable material, a rubber, with two coverings of the cap: one not
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET adherent made with phenolic-epoxy resins and another adherent of a vinyl lacquer. The differences are the same as in the previous one.
- GB963074 proposes a soft gasket based on polyvinyl chloride that fits over the cap.
- the cost of processing with respect to those of b-components is lower due to the simplicity of its elaboration, they suffer from a series of disadvantages. Among these, a still relatively high production cost and poor sealing are indicated, which does not fully guarantee the tightness.
- the element that minimally guarantees both the sealing, that is the sealing, and the sealing control is a die-cut disk generally made of polyethylene or foamed polypropylene that performs the two functions mentioned, but has a cost still relatively high for three reasons:
- the plate has already undergone a previous manufacturing process to achieve the desired quality from the raw material.
- 2 o It is a die cut disc that generates waste
- the invention consists of a crown plug gasket that, thanks to the geometry of its novel disk shape, guarantees superior sealing and better effective sealing control than those of the prior art.
- the gasket of the invention is integrated in a single body in the form of an elastic disk comprising two concentric rings, total continuous or partially interrupted, and in which the following elements can be distinguished: a first outer ring with its split upper face (intended to be the contact surface with the surface of the neck of the bottle), a second inner ring for contact with the shutter and a flat inner surface.
- the first outer ring is logically the one with the greatest diameter, but also the one with the greatest transverse width and height, having a cross-section consisting of two triangles separated by a slit, although said triangular shape can adopt any other geometric shape suitable to its function, such as trapecial, elliptical, semicircular or similar.
- Said first outer ring is intended to serve as a contact surface with the surface of the upper edge of the bottle or container in order to achieve compression tightness as
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) result of the arrangement of the crown cap on the joint, and in turn on the upper outer edge of the mouth of the bottles.
- a characteristic feature of said upper face of the first outer ring is to be provided with a central upper groove that in depth reaches approximately half of the height of said first outer ring. Said groove is intended to facilitate, during the placement of the crown plug, the expansion of said outer ring by crushing and the settlement of said outer ring on most of the outer edge of the mouth of the bottle, thus guaranteeing maximum sealing.
- the second Inner ring has a section in the form of a trapezoid, although it can also be any other geometric shape suitable to its function, such as triangular, elliptical, semicircular or the like.
- said second inner ring comprises an upper face whose horizontal section at its average height is significantly smaller, approximately half, than that of the first outer ring and is intended to serve as a contact surface with edge area of the shutter surface of the bottle in order to achieve compression tightness in the arrangement of the seal on said shutter, and consequently the radial control thereof.

- Figure 5 shows a vertical section of a closed bottle with a crown cap provided with the seal of the invention located between the crown cap and the end of the neck of the bottle, exposing all the members of the final closure achieved.
- Figure 1 the following elements of the crown plug seal of the prior art are seen: in the circular ring (1): outer side or wall (1a), inner side or wall (1b) and upper face (2) said ring (1), said face (2) serving as a contact surface with the neck surface of the bottle; Additionally, Figure 1 shows the flat interior surface (3), and the small cylindrical points (4) of contact with the plug (T ', see Fig. 2) located on said flat interior surface (3).
- FIG. 3-5 A preferred embodiment of the invention is shown in detail in Figures 3-5.
- the crown plug seal of the invention is presented, which consists of the following elements: - The first outer ring (11) with its outer (11a) and inner (11b) side walls, the upper face (12) and its groove central (12b) that in depth reaches approximately half of the height of said outer ring (11) and that constitutes the contact surface of the face (12) with the surface of the upper edge (16) of the bottle.
- the second inner ring (17) stops for contact with the shutter
- Figure 4 shows the following elements: the face (12) of the first outer ring (11), the flat inner surface (13), the space (18) of said flat inner surface (13) existing between said first outer ring (11) ) and said second inner ring (17).
- Figure 5 shows the seal of the invention, inside the crown cap (15), placed on the neck (16) of the bottle. It is possible to appreciate the outer side or wall (11a) of the first outer ring (11); The upper face (12) of said first outer ring (11), which constitutes the contact surface which, thanks to its central upper groove (12b), see Fig. 3, is perfectly crushed on the surface of the upper edge of the Ia bottle; and the second inner ring (17) for centering the joint and contact with the shutter (T) separated from said outer ring (11)
- Both the first outer ring (11) and the second inner ring (17) have been represented in this preferred embodiment with a continuous circumferential path. However, both can be carried out discontinuously, either in the form of a broken circumference or in the form of punctual projections along a circumferential line.
- the present invention consists of a joint that, thanks to the innovative design of its rings, guarantees superior sealing and effective sealing control.
- An additional advantage is that its preparation from polymers and foamed resins, for example, polyethylene or foamed polypropylene, has a significantly lower cost unlike the joints of currently extended use, thanks to the fact that part of a virgin raw material and eliminates currently used manipulations such as:
