Abstract

The invention relates to a method for controlling, via the Internet, terminals which are suited for receiving and displaying electronically encoded information, but offer very limited or no interaction at all, and therefore are accessible to the vast majority of people. The terminals are controlled by a group of people via an Internet-based social network operated jointly. Both the family relationship information among each other and the terminals associated with the individual persons, including the processable data formats thereof, are registered for the persons registered in the Internet-based social network. Besides these devices, the method according to the invention is based on a new and advantageous embodiment of the kind of Internet applications for which the term "social network" has developed, in which case the term "Internet-based social network" is used for this purpose. A typical information receiving and reproducing apparatus is a so-called digital photo frame. A limitation of the applicability of such devices is that it can be used only extremely limited by people who can not or do not work with modern computing, especially PC and Internet. These devices provide digital quality television channels and they offer a number of additional features such as retrieving a movie or repeating a sequence. Although they are designed for people who are not PC users, they do not provide personal information from their personal environment. A fourth group of devices, for which the previous considerations apply analogously, are telephones, in particular landline telephones in the application that they interesting current information that is currently made available on the Internet, should be transferred to the owner. According to both proposals, extensive platforms for a connecting network that can be modified for many special communities can be formed. It is certainly not optimal to design the system according to the invention only for use in the family and relatives circle applicable. It is better, as with well-known platforms for Internet-based social networks, to allow more freely definable friendships or other relationships, as well as groupings of users on the basis of some defined motto or common feature. For the design and implementation of a system according to the invention for an Internet-based social network and the associated activation of devices for the reproduction of information, beyond this description there is still a wealth of challenging design and programming tasks for details and advantageous optional additional functions. However, these are either recognizable and solvable in the context of expert action, or are not necessary for the basic function of the method, which is why it will not be discussed further here.
