Description
IMPROVED TREADMILL
The present invention relates to an improved treadmill. More specifically, the invention relates to a treadmill of the kind not providing power supply to properly operate.
Treadmills have been used in recent years to carry out physical exercises, having more or less sophisticated technical features as far as information and exercises that can be carried out with the same treadmill are concerned. Substantially all existing treadmills provide a continuous belt tappet, rotating between a drive roll and a driven roll, and means for transmitting power to said drive roll. Furthermore, different technical and electronic solutions exist to permit to the user to make different exercises or to obtain different information. More recently, it has been introduced on the market treadmill not requiring electric power supply for its operation. Said treadmill is described in the European Patent application n° 1 466 651 , in the name of GMM Training S.r.L It is described a treadmill with improved actuation means and comprising, on a support frame, a belt continuously wound about a main roll and about an idle roll, and wherein further actuation means are provided for modifying the inclination of the support frame. Treadmill is characterized in that actuation means are activated by motion of belt produced by power provided by the user.
In this field, the applicants have realized and prepared an improved treadmill, not requiring supply of electric power for its operation, and which is provided with a support frame the inclination of which can be varied. However, differently with respect to the treadmill described in the above European Patent Application, adjustment of inclination of the belt or tappet does not depend on the physical activity of the user on the rotating belt or tappet, and it can be manually adjusted, always without requiring electric power supply.
It is therefore specific object of the present invention a treadmill comprising a support frame, a belt rotating between two rolls, respectively a front roll and a rear roll, said roll being supported by said support frame, and means for adjusting inclination of said support frame with respect to the surface on which said treadmill rests, said treadmill being characterized in that said means for adjusting the inclination of said support frame with respect to the treadmill resting surface comprise a
handle or handgrip, provided on the same treadmill, in such a position to permit its operation by the same user, and means for transmitting the motion for adjusting the inclination between said handle or handgrip and the support frame. Particularly, according to the invention, said treadmill can provide two lateral front upright, on which said handle or handgrip is coupled.
Preferably, according to the invention, said means for transmission of the motion of adjustment of inclination and the support frame are comprised of a gear mechanical system.
Particularly, said gear mechanical system can provide, in each vertical upright, an Archimedean screw, coupled by gear with said handle or handgrip, a plate sliding along said Archimedean screw when the latter is rotated, said plate being coupled with said support frame. According to the invention, a stop can be provided along said
Archimedean screw.
Still according to the invention, said gear can permit detaching the handle or handgrip from Archimedean screw in order to permit its use independently from the adjustment of the support frame inclination. In a further embodiment of the treadmill according to the invention, said means for transmitting the motion of adjustment of inclination between said handle or handgrip and the support frame are comprised of an oleo-dynamic system.
Particularly, according to the invention, said oleo-dynamic system provides two oleo-dynamic cylinders, a liquid reservoir, a gear pump, with relevant transmission for coupling with said handle or handgrip, and a valve system.
Preferably, according to the invention, said two oleo-pneumatic cylinders are coupled by a bracket. Still according to the invention, a first valve is used to adjust the hardening/release pressure of the handle or handgrip, and a second valve is used to direct rising - lowering - stop, in the latter position permitting the use of the handle or handgrip in order to strain arms independently from the adjustment of the support frame, said first valve in this situation permitting adjustment of the strain.
According to the invention, said support frame can be pivotably coupled to said front vertical upright, thus permitting closing said treadmill.
Furthermore, according to the invention, wheels can be provided to move said treadmill either open or closed.
Still according to the invention, said treadmill provides a sliding or support system of the tappet providing a plurality of steel tubes, having lateral rolls or spheres or joint spacers, with roll rotation axis, and a an element for adjusting position of the rear roll in order to adjust tension of the belt.
Finally, according to the invention, longitudinal/transverse grip and closure handles are provided, with a spring, a hooking pin, a handle abutment, and a slot.
The present invention will be now described, for illustrative but not limitative purposes, according to its preferred embodiments, with particular reference to the figures of the enclosed drawings, wherein: figure 1 is a schematic view of a treadmill according to the invention; figure 2 shows treadmill of figure 1 in a folded and closed position; figures 3a - 3d show some mechanical particulars of treadmill of figure 1 ; figures 4a and 4b show some particulars of the treadmill according to the invention; figures 5a and 5b show further particulars of the treadmill according to the invention; figures 6a and 6b are views of a second embodiment of the treadmill according to the invention; and figure 7a - 7c show some particular aspects of treadmill according to the invention.
Observing first figures 1 and 2, it is shown a treadmill according to the invention, generically indicated by reference number 1, comprising a support frame 2, a belt or tappet 3, rotating about two rolls provided on said frame 2, two substantially vertical upright elements 4, in the front part of said frame 2, and a handle or winch 5, on which the user (not shown) can manually act.
As it can be observed in figure 2, frame 2 - tappet 3 assembly can be frontally pivoted with respect to upright 4 in order to easily fold and store the treadmill according to the invention. To this end, it is further possible providing treadmill with wheels 6.
Coming now to observe figures 3a - 3d, it is shown a mechanism for adjusting the inclination of the frame 2, said mechanism being housed within upright 4. It must be pointed out that the mechanism shown is only one of the possible embodiments that can be adopted for realising the device according to the invention.
Mechanism provides an Archimedean screw, coupled by gear 8 shown in figure 3b with handle 5 (not shown in this figure), and on which plate 9 slides, said plate being connected with frame 2 and tappet 3 to be adjusted. Gear 8 system can also permit detaching coupling between
Archimedean screw 7 and handle 5, thus permitting to the user to act on the same handle to train the upper part of the body.
Lateral snood system is shown in figures 4a and 4b to rise frame 2 - tappet 3, said system providing, on its rotation axis, a bushing 11 , a washer 12 or plate comprised of smooth steel or of Teflon®, a bell
