Abstract

An object of the present invention is to provide a small sized input device using a touchpad which allows for an easier pointing function, like a mouse, and an easier character input function than a keypad of a general cellular phone. To accomplish the object of the present invention, a method is provided that comprises designating a plurality of characters to each of the keys of a virtual keyboard and permitting those characters to be input separately in a touched state and in a pressed state in a virtual keyboard input system using a two-dimensional pointing device which can discriminate between a touched state and a pressed state.
