Description

Description
A COOLING DEVICE
[0001] The present invention relates to a cooling device that comprises a multi-purpose storage container.
[0002] In cooling devices, one or more shelves, whereon food-beverage containers are disposed, or one or more storage containers are used. Since there are slots located on storage container base for eggs to be placed, difficulties are faced when storage containers used as egg holders are desired to be used for storage of items apart from eggs. In the state of the art, storage containers are provided, which present flexible usage volumes enabling storage of both eggs and other items.
[0003] One such embodiment appears in the International Patent Application No. WO2007/110445. In this document, an egg holder is explained, which is stacked at the edge of the shelf whereon it stands by folding like an accordion when not in use. The shelf comprises a base, whereon other items can be stacked when the egg holder folds.
[0004] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooling device that comprises a storage container, wherein eggs or other items are placed depending on the needs of the user.
[0005] The cooling device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is explicated in the attached claims. In the cooling device of the present invention, a plate with holes thereon is disposed in the storage container that comprises a base, whereon ridges are provided. Ridges on the base provide a flat base by fitting into holes, when the plate is seated on the base. The plate is brought to two different positions in the storage container depending on the needs of the user. If the storage container is desired to be used for storing eggs, the plate is brought to a higher point than the base and therefore eggs are placed in the holes. If the storage container is desired to be used for other items, the plate is seated on the base, and a flat base is provided since the ridges fit into the holes such that there will be no overflowing and no space left.
[0006] The cooling device furthermore comprises a fixing mechanism that enables the plate to be fastened at the desired position. In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing mechanism comprises latches and housings that are disposed oppositely on the side wall and the plate, and legs and recesses that are disposed oppositely on the base and the plate, enabling the plate to move up or down between the side walls in a balanced manner.
[0007] In another embodiment of the present invention, the fixing mechanism comprises extensions and pawls that are disposed oppositely on the side wall and the plate, enabling locking, and slots that are disposed oppositely on the plate, enabling the plate to move up or down between the side walls in a balanced manner, and springs applying pressure to four corners of the plate from below.
[0008] By means of the movable plate having holes thereon disposed in the storage container and the ridges formed on the base of the storage container to be fitted into the holes, the use of the storage container for storing eggs or other items and easily making the storage container ready depending on the needs of the user is enabled.
[0009] A cooling device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
[0010] Figure 1 - is the perspective view of a cooling device.
[0011] Figure 2 - is the exploded view of a storage container.
[0012] Figure 3 - is the perspective view of a storage container when the plate is above.
[0013] Figure 4 - is the cross-sectional view of a storage container when the plate is above.
[0014] Figure 5 - is the perspective view of a storage container when the plate is below.
[0015] Figure 6 - is the cross-sectional view of a storage container when the plate is below.
[0016] Figure 7 - is the schematic view of a storage container when the plate is below in another embodiment of the present invention.
[0017] Figure 8 - is the schematic view of a storage container when the plate is above in another embodiment of the present invention.
[0018] The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows: [0019] 1. Cooling device
[0020] 2. Storage container
[0021] 3. Base
[0022] 4. Side wall
[0023] 5. Plate
[0024] 6. Hole
[0025] 7. Ridge
[0026] 8. Fixing mechanism
[0027] 9. Leg
[0028] 10. Latch
[0029] 11. Housing
[0030] 12. Recess
[0031] 13. Housing
[0032] 14. Spring
[0033] 15. Extension
[0034] 16. Pawl
[0035] The cooling device (1) of the present invention comprises a storage container (2) that has a base (3) and side walls (4) surrounding the base (3), and a plate (5) that is disposed on the base (3), can move up and down, can be positioned in at least two levels.
[0036] The cooling device (1) also comprises at least one hole (6), which is disposed on the plate (5) and wherein eggs can be placed, and at least one ridge (7), which is disposed on the base (3), is in the same form as the hole (6), provides a flat base by fitting into the holes (6) when the plate (5) is seated on the base (3) (Figure 1).
[0037] The cooling device (1) furthermore comprises at least one fixing mechanism (8) that enables the plate (5) to be positioned on the base (3) and/or above the base (3).
[0038] The plate (5) can be fastened in two different positions, one being bottom and the other being top. The plate (5) is seated on the base (3) in the bottom position. In this position, the ridges (7) fit into the holes (6). Since the ridges (7) and the holes (6) are shaped and dimensioned identically, and aligned at the same level, the ridges (7) fill the holes (6) entirely such that there will be no space left when the ridges (7) fit into the holes (6). The height of the ridges (7) is equal to the wall thickness of the plate (5). Thus, when the plate (5) is seated on the base (3), the ridges (7) provide a flat base in the storage container (2) by fitting in the holes (6).
[0039] The plate (5) is brought to the top position by being moved from the bottom position. In this position, the plate (5) stays above the base (3) and does not contact the base (3). The plate (5) is fastened to the fixing mechanism (8) in this position. Since the ridges (7) do not fill the holes (6), eggs can be placed in the holes (6) in this position.
[0040] In another embodiment of the present invention, the fixing mechanism (8) comprises two legs (9) which are disposed on two opposite sides of the plate (5) and extend from the plate (5) to the base (3), at least two latches (10) disposed on the legs (9), at least two housings (11) which are disposed on the side walls (4) and wherein latches (10) are seated when the plate (5) is brought to the top position, and a recess (12), wherein the leg (9) disposed on the base (3) is seated(Figures 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6).
[0041] In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the fixing mechanism (8) comprises at least one slot (13) disposed on the base (3), at least one spring (14) that is placed in the slot (13) and pushes the plate (5) from the bottom upwards, more than one extension (15) in at least two different heights, disposed on two opposite side walls (4), and at least two pawls (16) disposed on the plate (5), providing the plate (5) to be fastened in different heights by being attached to the extensions (15) (Figure 7 and 8). The plate (5) is seated on the base (3), when the pawls (16) are attached to the extensions (15) below. In this position, the spring (14) pushes the plate (5) upwards, while the extensions (15) prevent pushing. The plate (5) is positioned above the base (3), when the pawls (16) are released from the extensions (15) below and attached to the extensions (15) above.
[0042] The storage container employed in the cooling device (1) of the present invention can be used with a flat base or as an egg holder, the base of which has holes (6) wherein the eggs are placed.
