Abstract

A process for producing an optical display unit. The process eliminates a problem that when a sheet product having the property of curving is half-cut in preparation for laminating the sheet product to a substrate through a pressure-sensitive adhesive while peeling the uncut member, then the cut sheet product curls during conveyance after the half cutting. The process enables the sheet product to be satisfactorily laminated to a substrate. The process for optical display unit production comprises the steps of: unwinding a roll of a continuous sheet product comprising an optical member and a release film disposed on one of the surfaces of the member through a pressure-sensitive adhesive; cutting the sheet product with a cutter while leaving the release film uncut; and then laminating the sheet product to a substrate through the pressure-sensitive adhesive while removing the release film. This sheet product has such a constitution that when no external force is being exerted thereon, the sheet product curls in the lengthwise direction, with the release film facing inward.
