L'invention concerne un système et un procédé pour traduire des clavardages en ligne, permettant à une pluralité d'utilisateurs de communiquer à travers ledit système à l'aide de terminaux, ledit système comprenant au moins une base de données de dictionnaires permettant de stocker une pluralité de dictionnaires de langues ; un module de traduction permettant une traduction en ligne d'un contenu des clavardages d'utilisateurs, ledit module de traduction permettant de traduire en ligne le contenu d'une pluralité de langues en une pluralité d'autres langues, à l'aide de ladite base de données de dictionnaires pour exécuter la traduction en ligne selon les règles prédéfinies et selon les sélections de l'utilisateur ; et un module de présentation permettant de présenter le contenu traduit à l'utilisateur. Le module de traduction peut en outre permettre à des utilisateurs de sélectionner les langues dans lesquelles le contenu qui est reçu à partir d'un autre utilisateur participant au clavardage est traduit.
