Abstract

[PROBLEMS] To provide a multi-spindle excavator of a simple structure capable of functioning to attain enlargement of diameter. [MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEMS] A side cutter (31) is provided onto the side surface of an excavating drum (2) of this horizontal multi-spindle excavator. The excavating drum (2) is capable of rotating around its vertical axis by a hydraulic motor or the like. A groove is excavated by the horizontal multi-spindle excavator, and a cylindrical enlarged part is formed at the bottom part of the groove by rotating the excavating drum around its vertical axis while rotationally driving the drum at the bottom part for excavation. When the excavating drum is pulled upward while performing excavation at a position where the drum is rotated by 90°relative to the groove, the groove having a cross-shape section can be excavated.
