[1] The present invention relates to a recording device for recording golfer's swing motion. More particularly, the present invention relates to a recorder for golf swing motion that makes it easier to analyze the swing motion by performing concentrated sampling of the motion immediately before and after impact on golf ball during golfer's swing motions and works in various modes by using configurations included therein to be used for purposes other than a recorder for golfer's swing motion in order to have general-purpose characteristics. Background Art
[2] With the progress in a variety of electronic devices, relationships between electronic devices and sports is becoming inseparable ones since electronic devices make it possible to record each of dynamic moments in the sports games as they are, such as they making it possible to capture each of moments and properly judging in sports games with dynamic actions, where instantaneous judgments that are impossible with naked human eyes are important.
[3] In addition, with the popularization of various sports, by storing data regarding exemplary models from professional players to provide the data to amateur players, the electronic devices become helpful to reduce ability gaps between amateur players and professional players in playing games.
[4] Especially, in golf games where a single swing can be critical in deciding victory or defeat, a golfer's swing motion can be a decisive factor. In such a sport as golf, the electronic devices, analyzing swing motions of professional golfers and providing them to amateur golfers, make amateur golfers follow the swing motions of the professional golfers and perform the exemplary swing motions, and help to increase their driving distances and accuracy through the precise impacts on ball.
[5] While, the analysis of the golfer's swing motion by the electronic devices has been provided at the level of capturing and replaying the golfer's swing motion. Conventionally the data for the golfer's swing has been provided by using the following method.
[6] Fig. 1 is an illustration that shows a conventional electronic device for analyzing golfer's swing motion. The conventional device 20 for recording the swing motions of amateur and professional golfers generally has characteristics of a digital recorder that receives and stores the swing motions from camera 30 as digital data to display the golfers' swing motions on display 40.
[7] Through the configuration, the electronic device continuously picture each swing motion of amateur and professional golfers and play them using display 40 to make a comparison between them so that they could request a professional golfer's advice or make a comparison and an analysis of the swing motion comparison, by providing still images or slow motion by decreasing the playback speed, when a correction is needed for a certain part of swing motion.
[8] Such a device for recording the swing motions makes an accurate capturing of golfer's swing motion feasible and provides various functions such as sampling the swing motion to be corrected. However, since usage of the device is limited to the analysis on the golfer's swing form and it can only be used fixed on site once installed because its components are very heavy as well as generally expensive, using the device is not practical in golf field considering characteristics of golf that it requires frequent movement in the field. Accordingly, the device has a problem in that its installation is not easy because of the above mentioned reasons and users hesitate to use it when they intend to use it personally.
[9] Though portability can be improved in order to solve the above mentioned problem by using general camcorders, there still remain problems in that the device cannot offer viable solutions for the purpose of improving golfer's swing motion, since swing motion is performed in very short period of time and there still is a limitation in the device for perfect reproducing parts of the motion performed in such a short period of time that have problems due to a limit on the number of frames per seconds even though the device capture and provide the parts of the motion, and since there is deterioration of image quality of frames or crash of image in providing still image.
[10] In order to solve the problems as mentioned above, a camera with enhanced number of frames per second has been used, however, users hesitate to use it because the usage of the device is mostly limited to an analysis of golfer's swing form and the device is not convenient to install, not to mention, it is a significant burden in terms of the cost to use it. Accordingly, there also has been a problem in that the cost-effectiveness dropped significantly compared to configuration cost of the device. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem

[43] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings and exemplary embodiments.
[44] Figure 2 is an illustration that depicts an exemplary embodiment of a recorder for golf swing motion in accordance with the present invention. Sensor 110 is arranged adjacent to a stand for a golf ball, the recorder for golf swing motion 100 controls camera 120 to picture swing motions of a golfer 10.
[45] Here, camera 120 can be configured to be detachable, and the recorder for golf swing motion 100 can have a part on which the camera is mounted. The camera 120 also can be configured to communicate with the recorder for golf swing motion 100 in wire or wireless communication and therefore can be utilized for a portable use.
[46] In addition, the recorder for golf swing motion 100 provides a user interface 130 with various modes, which makes an analysis of golfer's swing easily performed. Specifically, user interface 130 has a technical feature in that it has a jog shuttle for controlling the playback speed or sampling certain frames of the image data pictured by the camera, or it has at least one or more buttons 132, 133, 134 for setting the functional modes of the recorder for golf swing motion and selecting automatic or manual for playback and storing. The recorder for golf swing motion of the present invention which is controlled by said user interface 130 will be described in detail afterward. Besides, the recorder for golf swing motion includes a display to show the image data and can play the image data in real time or repeatedly.
[47] Figure 3 is a schematic configuration diagram of the recorder for golfer's swing motion according to the present invention. Firstly, communication unit 201 receiving detection signal of sensor 110 by golfer's movement and image signal from one or more of cameras 120 and transmitting control signal from control unit 204 that controls sensor 110 and camera 120 is included as a component. Here, communication method for communication unit 201 to communicate with said sensor 110 and camera 120 can be wired or wireless communication, which can be Zigbee, RF, infrared ray communication, or Binary CDMA in case of wireless communication.
[48] In addition, since configuring the communication unit and the camera to communicate with each other using Binary CDMA has advantage in that it can minimize frequency interferences and cost at the same time, it is desirable to configure to use Binary CDMA for communication at least between the communication unit and the camera.
[49] Characteristics of configurations of the present invention are described with
reference to the schematic configuration diagram of Fig. 3. When the detection signal of the sensor 110 by golfer's movement are received through communication unit 201, control unit 204 controls image processing unit 202 processing the image data from camera through frame control unit 203 increasing the number of frames to analyze the golfer's swing motion at the moment of impact based on the signal of the sensor. At this time, control unit 204 can store the image data processed by image processing unit 202 on memory unit 206.
[50] In addition, since the recorder for golf swing motion includes user interface unit 205 to manually control the functional mode according to a user's input and provides still image or slow motion function regarding desired parts of frames among the image data to easily distinguish the parts of the swing motion that needs to be corrected and to precisely capture the moment of impact, it is possible to easily determine correctness of a shot.
[51] Further, since the image data provided by image processing unit 202 can be stored on memory unit 206, which enables both previous swing motion and recent swing motion separately displayed on the display, it is possible to easily make a judgment on the degree of correction of swing motions.
[52] Figure 4 illustrates a schematic configuration diagram of another recorder for golf swing motion according to the present invention. The recorder for golf swing motion also minimizes power consumption and provides a conversion means of various functional modes at the same time, and it can perform functions as a DVR(Digital Video Recorder) and surveillance device, besides usage for golf.
[53] Describing the above mentioned in detail through the schematic configuration diagram of Figure 4, a power management unit 208 can be comprised therein additionally. Here, power management unit 208 manages electric power for the each component of the recorder for golf swing motion based on the detection signal of the sensor 110, that is, during the sleep mode of normal times, power management unit 208 generates wake-up signal, and simultaneously starts supplying power by detection signal of the sensor.
[54] Also, the recorder for golf swing motion further comprises a mode conversion unit
207 to provide various functional modes. It can work as a manless surveillance mode for storing image data pictured by camera when an object is detected based on detection signal of the sensor or can work as a remote surveillance mode for playing image in real time based on detection signal of the sensor.
[55] Here, the functional modes are set through the user interface, mode conversion unit
207 provides electric power management unit 208 with information about components required for each functional mode, based on which electric power management unit
208 let only the components that corresponds to a certain functional mode wake-up,
and simultaneously starts supplying power to reduce power consumption. An exemplary embodiment regarding use of the functional modes will be described afterwards.
[56] Figure 5 is an exemplified illustration regarding control of the number of frames for a recorder for golf swing motion according to the present invention. Referring to Figure 5 (a), there will be detection through the sensor when sensor and the head part of the club 110 are on the same line during golfer's down swing. Here, sensor 110 may comprise a light emission unit emitting lights and a light receiving unit collecting lights reflected by club head to detect a start point of the swing just before the impact. Besides, sensors that generate detection signal based on rapid change in the intensity of light, approach of metallic object, or change in sound-level also can be used.
[57] As such, based on detection signal of sensor 110, the recorder for golf swing motion controls camera to picture with the increased number of frames for golfer's swing motion compared to before the sensor's detection, and gets image data for golfer's swing motion after the sensor's detection.
[58] Figure 5 (b) is an illustration of a result of an increment in the number of frames pictured by the recorder for golf swing motion according to the present invention. The upper part of the illustration shows images pictured with the normal number of frames, the lower part shows image frames that are increased in number after the recorder for golf swing motion acquires sensor's detection signal compared to normal frames pictured. Describing in detail with reference to the illustration, during the procedure of down swing from the top swing where the club head locates at the highest point, when the club head and the sensor be on the straight line, the sensor provides detection signal with the recorder for golf swing motion. As such, the recorder for golf swing motion, through control of the camera, increase the number of frames after the sensor's detection to transcribe the real-time movement at the moment near the impact in the frames increased in number as illustrated in the illustration so that it shows image data with clear image quality and smooth continuous movement.
[59] Here, as for the part where the club head is located in the straight line with the sensor in back swing during the progress toward top swing, the recorder for golf swing motion is configured to ignore the first detection signal of the sensor and can prevent errors from occurring in working process.
[60] As described above, the reason for increasing the number of frames from just prior to the impact is to precisely observe information about how correctly the impact on the golf ball was performed, and to make the image just prior to the impact clear and departmentalized to easily determine thereof since incorrectness of the swing motion just prior to the impact is a determinant of incorrectness of entire impact.
[61] While, the present invention can be used for various purposes that is not limited to
golf purpose, and it can be applied to the similar sports where impact and the specific posture is important. For example, it can be used for sports that require variety of hitting such as base ball where swing form and pitching form is considered to be important. Describing it in detail with reference to configuration of Figure 4, firstly, the electric power management unit 208 supplies electrical power to the preset parts corresponding to the remote surveillance mode based on detection signal of sensor 110 while each unit stays in sleep mode. After this, through the detection signal of sensor 110, if control unit 204 detects an object outside or obstacle, it provides only the other parts except for memory unit 206 and frame control unit 203 with electric power through the electric power management unit and performs only monitoring of the detection, and therefore makes it possible to reduce power consumption.
[65] In addition, the recorder for golf swing motion can be set to work as a manless surveillance mode in order to detect an outsider's visit inside a house as illustrated in figure 7. Accordingly, when working as a manless surveillance mode as mentioned, sensor 110 included in the present invention can be placed at the front door to work as a door bell, and transfers a detection signal to the recorder for golf swing motion 100 if an outsider 400 is detected. And the recorder for golf swing motion controls camera 120 included in the present invention to picture the outsider based on the detection signal, and not only makes the image data of the outsider displayed on a display of the recorder for golf swing motion 100 but also sets the image data to be stored when a resident of the house is absent and makes it possible for the resident to check up the visitor list in the future.
[66] Here, when working as the manless surveillance mode as mentioned, only the parts required for detecting the outsider and storing the image data thereof are set to work.
Describing it in detail with reference to configuration of Figure 4, firstly, the electric power management unit 208 supplies electrical powers to the preset parts corresponding to the manless surveillance mode based on sensor 110's detection of an outsider while each unit stays in sleep mode. After this, if control unit 204 detects an outsider through the detection signal of sensor 110, it provides only the other parts except for frame control unit 203 with electric power through electric power management unit 208 and makes only the actions regarding detection and storing the image data be performed, and therefore makes it possible to reduce power consumption.
[67] Figure 8 is a flow chart for functioning of a recorder for golf swing motion according to the present invention. With reference to Figure 8, the recorder for golf swing motion according to the present invention receives input regarding the preset increment in the number of frames for the moment of impact from a user, and it waits in order to record a golf swing motion. After this, the recorder for golf swing motion is set to ignore the first detection signal and to wait for the down swing which will occur afterwards if it detects a detection signal of sensor caused by the back swing that is the first step of a golfer's swing motion, which is not the motion just prior to impact.
[68] Next, down swing getting started from top swing, the recorder for golf swing motion increases the number of frames to be pictured and stores the frames at the same time with the detection of the detection signal of the sensor.
[69] Figure 9 is a flow chart for functioning in accordance with conversion of modes of a recorder for golf swing motion according to the present invention. With reference to Figure 8, besides golf mode that is for recording mode for golf swing motion as mentioned above, the recorder for golf swing motion according to the present invention, can work as manless surveillance mode for detecting and monitoring when it detects obstacles and as remote surveillance mode installed indoors for monitoring outsider's visit and storing the record thereof.
[70] Describing the functional modes in detail, the recorder for golf swing motion makes all parts stand by in wake-up status and increases the number of frames to be pictured during the golfer's down swing to acquire specified swing motion of a golfer when it work as the golf mode by a user's mode setting. When it works as the manless surveillance mode, it makes only the parts required for monitoring work to stand in sleep mode in order to reduce the power consumption, and makes only required parts wake-up when it detects an obstacle based on the detection signal of the sensor and plays it in real-time. In addition, the recorder for golf swing motion is located indoors when it is set as the remote surveillance mode, and monitors the outsider when it detects an outsider based on the detection signal of the sensor and stores records of the monitoring during the resident's absence.
[71] As described above, the recorder for golf swing motion according to the present invention, designed to be optimized not only to provide clear and detailed image for swing motion as used for golf usage that is a main purpose but also to be utilized for various purposes by using sensor and camera included in the present invention. In other words, the sensor that used as a means for sensing golfer's swing motion also can be applied for monitoring of housebreaking form outside, obstacle, or object outside. Here, the present invention has cameras and other configurations to process image data, which can be used for not only golf usage but also various purposes as mentioned above without any modification in configurations, and provides an optimized design regarding the parts that can be used in common.
