Abstract
Disclosed is a method for producing a nanodiamond particle dispersible in an organic solvent, which comprises heating a hydrophilic nanodiamond particle produced by a shock compaction method or the like (a nanodiamond cluster having a primary particle diameter of 3 to 5 nm) in a hydrogen atmosphere at a temperature of, for example, 300 to 800˚C. Also disclosed is a method for producing a dispersion having single nano-size nanodiamond particles dispersed stably in an organic solvent, which comprises disaggregating an aggregate of the diamond particles produced by the aforementioned method by a dispersion treatment such as a bead milling technique or the like in an organic solvent, particularly a polar organic solvent. The dispersion of the nanodiamond particles in the organic solvent does not cause aggregation, precipitation or the like even after six months and can maintain its stable dispersion state.
