Abstract

It is intended to provide a technique whereby bark, which is relatively inexpensive as a starting material and has not yet been fully utilized as a fuel, and coffee extract residue, which is an industrial waste product, can be effectively utilized as a biomass fuel. Fuel pellets comprising coffee extract residue and bark as the main components. By using the coffee extract residue as a fuel, utilization of the coffee extract residue, which is an industrial waste product, can be promoted. By processing the coffee extract residue together with bark into fuel pellets, the coffee extract residue is solidified into pellets, which makes it possibleto avoid jamming in a dust collector of a burning apparatus such as a boiler. Because of having a high calorific value, the above-described fuel pellets are highly valuable as a fuel. Since the fuel pellets are burnt at a high temperature, moreover, the amount of ash originating in the bark can be reduced.
