Abstract
本発明は、燃料極と空気極とに挟持された電解質膜を有する複数の単位膜電極接合体を具備する、燃料電池に関する。 近年、携帯用電子機器の電源に燃料電池を用いる試みがなされており、燃料電池を小型化できれば極めて有利な携帯用電子機器用の電源システムとなる。前記燃料電池では、一般に、複数の単位膜電極接合体は電気的に直列に接続されるが、出力の異なる単位膜電極接合体が直列に接続された場合には、出力の低い単位膜電極接合体が転極し、劣化していく等の問題があった。本発明は、前記燃料電池に、前記複数の単位膜電極接合体を、同一の極が同一側になるように、平面的かつ任意の一点を中心とした周方向に所定の間隔をあけて配置してなる膜電極接合体群と、前記膜電極接合体群の燃料極側に配置され、前記燃料極に燃料を供給する燃料供給機構とを具備すること等によって、上記問題の解決を図ったものである。
