Abstract

【課題】フォーマットの異なる複数の記録層を有する光記録媒体に対し円滑に記録および再生を行い得る光記録装置および光再生装置を提供する。 【解決手段】光ピックアップ装置２０５は、ＨＤ層１４に対し記録／再生を行うための第１の光学系とＢＤ層１２に記録／再生を行うための第２の光学系を有する。コントローラ２１４は、ＨＤ層１４とＢＤ層１２のＢＣＡにそれぞれ保持されたＢＣＡ情報（Ｂｏｏｋバージョン情報）に基づいて、ハイブリッドディスク１０中にＨＤ層１４とＢＤ層１２の両方が存在することと、ＨＤ層１４とＢＤ層１２のうち何れを優先して記録／再生を行うかを識別する。そして、その識別結果に基づいて、前記第１の光学系と前記第２の光学系のうち優先された記録層に対応する光学系を選択し、記録層から記録／再生を行う。
