Abstract
監視領域に向けて光を照射する投光系と、前記監視領域からの反射光を受光してその受光量に相当する信号を出力する受光系と、この受光系の出力信号のレベルを判定して前記監視領域での物体の有無を検出する検出手段と、計測レンジを遠距離・中距離・近距離として選択設定する設定手段と、選択された計測レンジに応じて前記投光系の投光量および前記受光系の受光ゲインを予め定められた値に自動設定する制御手段を備える。そして計測レンジが遠距離に設定されたときには投光量および受光ゲインをそれぞれ[高]に設定し、計測レンジが近距離に設定されたときには投光量および受光ゲインをそれぞれ[低]に設定する。そして前記計測レンジが中距離に設定されたときには前記投光量を[低]に設定すると共に前記受光ゲインを[高]に設定する。
