Abstract

 良好な画像表示が可能な極性及び帯電電位を有し、基板等との付着を防いで高いコントラストの良好な画像を表示することができる帯電粒子、この帯電粒子を含む表示媒体、及びこの表示媒体を用いた画像表示装置を提供する。具体的には、母粒子6に、所定の極性に帯電した第1の外添材料10と、第1の外添材料10よりも付着力の小さい第2の外添材料12とが外添された帯電粒子2であって、第1の外添材料10が微粒子(以下、「第1の微粒子」という)であって、母粒子6の半径方向において、第2の外添材料12の最外面が、第1の微粒子10の最外面よりも外側にある電気泳動表示媒体に用いる帯電粒子2、この帯電粒子2を含む表示媒体、及びこの表示媒体を用いた画像表示装置を提供する。
