Abstract

 フォトニック結晶を作製するために多層成膜する過程において、多層膜の形状が基材に十分に追随し、設計通りの光学特性を実現するための基材の構造を規定し、偏光子を提供することを課題とする。  平板状基板に周期性を有する凹凸構造体を形成した基材であって、前記凹凸構造体の主成分がSiO2であり、前記平板状基板の平面方向に平行に、互いに直交するx軸、y軸をとり、平面方向に垂直にz軸をとる場合に、x軸方向には凹凸構造が周期性を有し、y軸方向には凹凸構造が一様であり、前記周期性の周期間隔が80~450nmであり、凹凸構造のz軸方向の高さが、前記周期間隔に対して、0.25~0.75倍の範囲であり、前記高さのばらつきが、前記高さの平均hに対して、0.14h以下であることを特徴とする基材を用いた偏光子。
