Abstract

本発明の液晶表示装置(10)は、一対のガラス基板(31,41)の間に液晶層(50)を設けてなる液晶パネル(11)と、当該液晶パネル(11)に照明光を供給する照明装置(12)と、を含む液晶表示装置であって、前記一対のガラス基板(31,41)のうち前記照明装置(12)側に配されるガラス基板(31)において、輝点欠陥の原因となる輝点欠陥発生部(X)を遮光可能な位置に、前記照明装置(12)から供給される光に対してフォトクロミズムを示すハロゲン化金属の結晶が含有されているハロゲン化金属含有部(60)が形成されていることを特徴とする。
