Description
SPRING IN FORM OF A BELLOWS
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a vibration damper used to prevent the transmission of harmful vibrations to entire vehicle which may cause problems of noise, endurance etc. in commercial vehicles.
Background of the Invention
It is known that the commercial vehicle drivers spend more time on their vehicles than the passenger vehicles. In order to enable the drivers to drive vehicles more comfortably; comfort, security, robustness and usability in commercial vehicles are targeted to be close to the passenger automobiles. For that purpose a plurality of parts or techniques used in passenger automobiles are used for commercial vehicles as well and a plurality of parts used in commercial vehicles are improved or changed.
One of the important problems encountered in commercial vehicles is the harmful vibrations that occur during the operation of the vehicle. These vibrations both affect the comfort of the driver and lead to early fatigue and breaking of the commercial vehicle metal parts. In order to prevent the transmission of harmful vibrations to entire vehicle which may cause problems of noise, endurance etc. in commercial vehicles, the vibration dampers are used frequently.
In application within the state of the art, the mass providing the required weight to attain the desired frequency value is connected to the shear mounting bracket by an elastic material being in fixed thickness. Changing the frequency value may be usually possible by means of increasing the weight amount or playing with the thickness of the elastic portion providing the connection. During the use of dampers according to the desired frequency value, especially in order to attain the
desired frequency value, big mass parts are need to be used or the shear coefficient is decreased and this affects the endurance of the part negatively.
In Japan patent document No. JP2005030600, an application within the state of the art, a vibration damper which absorbs, even during high speed travel, the vibration to be composed, having enhanced absorbance and noise reduction characteristics and wherein the plastic material is used in it's inner side is mentioned.
In Japan patent document No. JP63225739, another application within the state of the art, a vibration damper which is designed as laminated for vibration damping and reduction is mentioned.
In Japan patent document No. JP2006046474, another application within the state of the art, a vibration damper having high strength and high vibration is mentioned.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to realize a vibration damper which enables desired frequency values (low) without changing the weight of connecting element or reducing the coefficient of spring, and being more durable and low- cost.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A vibration damper part realized to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:
Figure 1 is the perspective view of the inventive vibration damper,
Figure 2 is the top perspective view of clamping screw of the inventive vibration damper.
The parts shown in the figures are individually numbered, where the numbers refer to the following:
1. Vibration damper
2. Upper part
3. Elastic part 4. Lower part
5. Connection hole
6. Clamping plate
7. Plate hole
The inventive vibration damper (1) comprises: at least one upper part (2) made of steel material and helping to determine the natural frequency by means of it's weight, at least one lower part (4) made of steel material and enabling the connection of damper (1) on leaf spring by means of at least two connection holes (5) present on it and at least one elastic part (3) positioned to at least one opposite two sides between the lower part (4) and the upper part (2), made of elastic material, designed in form of bellow and permitting the up and down swinging of the upper part.
The vibration damper (1) is an apparatus preventing the transmission of harmful vibrations which are composed in rear-wheel drive vehicles to the entire vehicle and positioned on leaf springs in rear-wheel drive vehicles. The mounting of the damper (1) on leaf springs is realized by means of four connection holes (5) present on lower part (4) and four plate holes (7) present on lower sheet metal clamping plate (6).
At first the vibration damper (1) is positioned on leaf springs. Then bolts are (not seen on figure) passed through the connection holes (5). The lower end of the bolts enters the four plate holes (7) present on sheet metal clamping plate (6). Thus the leaf spring remains between the lower part (4) and the sheet metal clamping plate (6). With turning the nut (not seen on figure) fixed to the bolt head, attachment of the damper (1) on leaf springs by means of compressing two parts (4 and 6) is provided. In that way without opening any hole on the leaf spring, the attachment of damper (1) on leaf springs is provided.
The upper part (2), the lower part (4) and the clamping plate (6) present on the vibration damper (1) are made of steel material having the necessary endurance, toughness whereas the elastic part (3) present on center section and fixed to other two part (2 and 4) is made of elastic material in form of bellow. The elastic part (3) having the shape of bellow is present at two opposite sides between the lower part (4) and the upper part (2). The elastic part (3) helps the damping of the vibrations, which come from the transfer organs and rear axle to the shear and will be transmitted to the body from the shear, on shear by permitting the up and down swinging of the upper part (2). In addition, by changing the thickness of the elastic part, the natural frequency of the damper can be changed further, even without any modifications to the upper part (2)
Within the framework of this basic concept, it is possible to develop a wide variety of embodiments of the inventive vibration damper part (1) and the invention is essentially according to the claims and it can not be limited to the examples described herein.
