Abstract

An engine in which hunting of engine rotation can be suppressed. A supercharger (30) driven with exhaust energy performs supercharge in the intake passage, a pneumatic valve actuator (8) is employed for driving an EGR valve (9), the intake passage is linked to the valve action pressure chamber (34) of the valve actuator (8) through a supercharge pressure transmission passage (20), valve close state of the EGR valve (9) is sustained by a valve close urging means (9b) when the valve action pressure of the valve action pressure chamber (34) is lower than a predetermined level, otherwise the EGR valve (9) is opened with the valve action pressure of the valve action pressure chamber (34). In such an engine, a resistor (21) becoming the passing resistance of a transmission medium is provided in the way of the supercharge pressure transmission passage (20), and follow-up performance of open/close action of the EGR valve (9) for variation in supercharge pressure in the intake passage is made to fall by the resistor (21).
