Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an outer sole for a sports shoe, in particular for a shoe for playing field sports, such as a soccer shoe.
  • the present invention also relates to a sports shoe provided with such a sole.
  • Sports shoes are per se known, so also sports shoes for playing field sports such as soccer. When such sports are played the sportsperson exerts a diversity of forces on foot and ankle. These forces occur in particular when the sportsperson attempts to increase his/her speed, for instance by starting to run, or when the sportsperson attempts to reduce his/her speed, for instance by making a lateral sliding movement. As a result of not being able to withstand these forces, sportspersons suffer injury very regularly, particularly to their Achilles tendon. The known sports shoes provide insufficient protection from such an injury.
  • the present invention provides for this purpose an outer sole for a sports shoe, and a sports shoe provided with such a sole.
  • the outer sole has an upper side and a substantially flat underside, and can be subdivided into a front part for supporting the front of a foot (the 5 metatarsal bones and the toes), a middle part for supporting the middle of a foot (the ball of the foot) and a rear part for supporting the rear of a foot (the ankle-bone and the heel-bone), wherein a thickness of the rear part is greater than a thickness of the front part.
  • the outer sole according to the present invention is characterized in that a thickness of the outer sole only remains the same or increases over the whole length of the outer sole in a direction from the front part toward the rear part.
  • This dimensioning provides a raised position of the heel compared to the dimensioning of outer soles with a flat underside according to the prior art, wherein a thickness of the outer sole on the contrary decreases at the position of or in the rear part in a direction from the front part toward the rear part. Due to this raised heel position the Achilles tendon of the sportsperson is under less strain, with the advantage that the risk of chronic irritation or tearing is reduced.
  • the thickness of the outer sole is substantially constant in the rear part in a direction from the front part toward the rear part in order to provide the heel of the sportsperson with a flat and thus stable support.
  • the increase in the thickness here takes place in the middle part, which here substantially follows the curvature of the ball of the foot so as to also fully support the foot in the centre thereof, this further increasing the stability.
  • the thickness of the outer sole is also substantially constant in the front part, so that the foot makes optimal contact with the sole, and thereby with a ground surface.
  • the thickness of the outer sole in the rear part is for this purpose between 10 and 15 mm greater than the thickness of the outer sole in the front part.
  • this thickness provides a heel position which has been found to be especially favourable, in which a minimal unrolling of a foot of a sportsperson is achieved while a pressure on the front of a foot and the metatarsal bone remains at a relatively low value.
  • Such a position of the heel lies between 2 and 3 cm, and in particular around 28 mm.
  • the outer sole according to the present invention is further provided in a further preferred embodiment thereof with an inner sole on the upper side, wherein a thickness of the outer sole and the inner sole together only increases over the whole length of the outer sole in a direction from the front part toward the rear part.
  • the thickness of the inner sole in the rear part is here between 10 and 15 mm greater than the thickness of the inner sole in the front part, thus forming in combination with the outer sole a heel position between 2 and 3 cm, and in particular around 2.8 cm.
  • a particularly stable placing of the inner sole relative to the outer sole is obtained when the rear part of the outer sole is flat on an upper side thereof, and the bottom part of the inner sole is flat on an underside, or is at least provided with means for supporting on a flat surface, such as support ribs formed or arranged on the underside of the inner sole.
  • a further preferred embodiment of the outer sole according to the present invention is 5 provided on its underside with studs for use on a grass field or similar ground surface.
  • a wall extends at least along the contour of the rear part of U the outer sole in a direction substantially parallel to the direction from the underside of the outer sole toward the upper side of the outer sole, thus forming a heel covering.
  • the height of the wall preferably increases for this purpose in a direction from the front part toward the rear part, wherein a greatest height of the standing wall lies between 6 5 cm and 7.5 cm so that the whole heel of the sportsperson is enclosed.
  • the standing wall here preferably extends as far as possible to the front part.
  • the desired stiffness of the sole hereby increases because the heel covering prevents twisting of the middle part relative to the rear part.
  • Increasing the distance along the contour of the outer sole along which the standing wall is arranged also results in a greater stiffness of the thus formed heel covering, whereby the ankle of the sportsperson is better prevented from twisting.
  • the front part is manufactured in an embodiment of the outer sole according to the present invention from TPU or other type of lightweight plastic, and the middle part and the rear part from Kevlar/Carbon.
  • TPU has the property of being flexible, while Kevlar/Carbon is very stiff.
  • the outer sole can be manufactured integrally from these two materials, for instance by means of injection moulding. This thus results in a construction which has exceptional durability and torsion stiffness.
  • Other materials which have been found suitable are plastic and rubber compounds, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), optionally on the basis of polyurethane (TPU), or styrol copolymer (TPS).
