Abstract

　多チャンネル化しても小型化が可能であり、光損失の少ない光パワーモニターを開示する。光パワーモニターは、光伝播上流側と下流側との２本の光ファイバーであってそれらのコアの光軸をオフセットさせてコア端面同士を対向して融着部で融着して、融着部で下流側光ファイバーコア端面から上流側光ファイバーコア端面の一部が突出している。下流側光ファイバークラッド層に、上流側光ファイバーコア端部の突出している部分と対向してＵ溝が形成されており、そのＵ溝に光ダイオードが設けられている。上流側光ファイバーコア端面から下流側光ファイバークラッド層内に漏洩した光の３次もしくは４次の強め合った光をＵ溝に設けた光ダイオードで検出する。多チャンネル化しても小型化が可能であり、光伝播損失の少ない光パワーモニターを提供することが可能になった。
