Abstract

　本願の発明は、部分点灯動作を行う光源部を備えた画像表示装置において、表示映像での輝度むらや色度むらを低減して表示画質を向上させることが可能な画像表示装置を提供することを目的とする。 部分点灯部（４）単位で点灯する光源部（１０）からの照明光Ｌout を利用して、液晶表示パネル（２）において映像信号に基づく映像表示を行う。 部分点灯部（４）単位で点灯する光源部（１０）からの照明光Ｌout を光源部（１０）内の複数の照明光センサ（１３）により受光し、その受光データＤ１に基づいて各部分点灯部（４）の発光量を制御する。 また、照明光センサ（１３）の配置により、１つの部分点灯部（４）からの照明光Ｌout を２以上の照明光センサ（１３）により受光する。 本願の発明によると、照明光センサ（１３）による受光データＤ１の値の信頼性が向上する。 これにより照明光センサ（１３）間での受光特性にばらつきが生じた場合であっても、部分点灯部（４）間での発光特性のばらつきが低減され得る。
