Abstract

 撮像素子の時間積分効果に起因する表示映像の動きぼけを低減する処理を適切に制御することで、高品位な表示映像を実現することが可能な画像処理装置及び方法、画像表示装置及び方法を提供する。入力画像信号の動き量を検出する動き検出部1と、前記入力画像信号にエッジ強調処理を施すエッジ強調部2とを備え、前記入力画像信号の動き量が大きい領域に対しては、前記エッジ強調処理のエッジ強調度合いを大きくする画像表示装置であって、当該装置の外部より取得したジャンル情報に基づいて、前記入力画像信号が係属するジャンル種別を判定するジャンル判定部3と、前記入力画像信号が所定のジャンルに係属する場合、前記入力画像信号の動き量が大きい領域であっても、前記エッジ強調処理のエッジ強調度合いを小さくする、あるいは、前記エッジ強調処理を行わないように前記エッジ強調部2を制御する制御部4とを備えてなる。
