Abstract

Provided are a rotation detector having a simple structure and capable of precisely detecting an absolute angle with high resolution, and a bearing with the rotation detector mounting the rotation detector. The rotation detector (1) includes: two magnetic encoders (2A, 2B) which are formed in the state of coaxial rings, and which have magnetic string patterns (2Aa, 2Ba) having mutually different numbers of magnetic poles arranged on the periphery of each magnetic encoder; and magnetic sensors (3A, 3B) each detecting the magnetic field of each of the magnetic encoders (2A, 2B). Respective magnetic sensors (3A, 3B) have a function of detectinginformation on the positions of the magnetic encoders (2A, 2B) in the magnetic poles. The rotation detector (1) includes a phase difference detection means (6) which obtains the phase difference between magnetic field signals detected by the respective magnetic sensors (3A, 3B) and an angle calculation means (7) which calculates the absolute angles of the magnetic encoders according to the detected phase difference. A gap (12) is provided between the magnetic string patterns (2Aa, 2Ba) of the two magnetic encoders (2A, 2B).
