 簡単な構成で表示面に表示した文字または画像の視認性を向上させることができる表示装置。この装置では、撮影部(10)は、表示面(41)に対して垂直方向の正面側で表示面(41)を視認するユーザを撮影する。前景部抽出部(211)は、撮影した画像の人物を含む範囲を前景部として抽出する。前景輝度値算出部(212)は、前景部の輝度を算出する。背景部抽出部(221)は、撮影した画像の前景部以外の範囲を背景部として抽出する。背景輝度値算出部(222)は、背景部の輝度を算出する。処理強度算出部(23)は、前景部の輝度及び背景部の輝度に基づいて、処理強度を求める。画像処理部(30)は、処理強度に基づいて、表示部(40)の表示面(41)の視認性を向上させるための処理を行う。
