Abstract

[PROBLEMS] A press machine that is small-sized and has an increased degree of freedom in placement of a drive motor etc. in the machine. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The press machine has the drive motor (2) for performing press working, a main gear (3) rotated by rotational driving force of the drive motor (2), a conversion mechanism (5) for converting rotational motion of the main gear (3) into reciprocating motion, and a slide (7) connected to the conversion mechanism (5) and performing reciprocating motion. Press working is made by a die fixed to the slide (7). The press machine further has a frame (9) for supporting a shaft (6) for supporting the main gear (3) and incorporating the conversion mechanism (5), and also has a transmission gear (11) provided on the outer side of the frame (9) and transmitting driving force of the drive motor (2) to the main gear (3). At least a part of the main gear (3) is located outside the frame (9) so that the main gear (3) meshes with the transmission gear (11).
