（課題）本発明は、ヘッド故障となる可能性のあるハードディスクを予測し、故障のため使用不可能となる前に予防交換できるように通知するディスク故障予測装置を提供することを目的とする。 （解決手段）ディスク装置の故障予測を通知するディスク故障予測装置であって、前記ディスク装置のディスク媒体に記憶されているデータの読取りエラーが発生した位置を示すエラー位置情報が格納されるエラー位置情報格納メモリと、前記格納されたエラー位置情報を基に、エラーの周期性を検出する周期性検出手段と、前記エラーの周期性が検出されたときには、前記ディスク装置の故障予測を通知する故障予測通知手段と、を有することを特徴とするディスク故障予測装置。
