Abstract
本発明は、駆動電圧に対する光位相回転効率を改善させる光導波路デバイスであり、電気光学効果を有する基板(2)と、基板(2)上に形成されたマッハツェンダ型光導波路(3)と、基板(2)上に形成されマッハツェンダ型光導波路(3)に電界を印加するための信号電極(41)と、をそなえ、信号電極(41)は、前記電界印加のための電気信号が、マッハツェンダ型光導波路(3)をなす2つの干渉光導波路(3b-1,3b-2)のうちのいずれか一方の上部から他方の上部を辿るように一体的に連結して形成され、かつ、基板(2)における他方の干渉光導波路(3b-2)の部分に、互いに相反する分極特性の領域が周期的に交互配置された周期的分極特性領域(6)をそなえる。
