Abstract

A process for manufacturing a ring-shaped member, in which not only can material loss be zeroed to thereby attain reduction of processing cost but also a ring-shaped member can be obtained readily from a pipe material through a reduced number of process steps. The process comprises the steps of slicing metallic pipe material (1) into short tubes (1a); expanding under pressure each of the short tubes (1a) into a flare configuration to thereby obtain flare body (1b); and press forming the whole of the flare body (1b) flatly so as to obtain ring-shaped member (10).
