Abstract

A ruthenium carbene complex such as 1,3-dimesityl-4,5-dibromo-4-imidazolin-2-ylidene)(2- pyrrolidon-1-ylmethylene)(tricyclohexylphosphine)ruthenium dichloride is dissolved or dispersed in a polycyclic hydrocarbon compound having an aromatic ring such as indene and tetralin, thereby obtaining a catalyst liquid. Separately, a monomer liquid is prepared by blending, if necessary, an additive such as a filler or a flame retardant into a cycloolefin monomer such as tetracyclododecene or norbornene. A polymerizable composition is obtained by adding the catalyst liquid into the monomer liquid, and stirring and mixing the resulting liquid. A polymer is obtained by polymerizing the polymerizable composition. A crosslinked body or a crosslinked complex is obtained by crosslinking the polymer.
