Abstract

　明るい白表示、高コントラストの白黒表示及びフルカラー表示を、簡便な部材構成で実現することができる新規な電気化学的な表示素子は、対向電極間に電解質を含有し、対向電極の少なくとも一方に有機化合物を配位子とする金属錯体を含有した高分子膜が形成されており、該高分子膜は、少なくとも２種の金属と該少なくとも２種の金属と配位する部位を有する化合物とを含有し、該金属を介して該化合物同士が連結され、かつ該金属の酸化または還元反応によって少なくとも２つの着色状態を呈し、かつ該高分子膜が形成されている電極の表面粗さＲａが１０ｎｍ以上、若しくは該高分子膜が形成されている電極が、ナノ多孔質電極であることを特徴とする。
