Abstract

[PROBLEMS] A method, mechanism, and device for maintaining an inkjet head, which can perform excellent application and in which ink discharge performance is recovered and come-out of a nozzle does not occur. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A maintenance method for drawing liquid by covering a nozzle of an inkjet head by a cap and generating a negative pressure, the method having a waste liquid tank for allowing the cap and negative pressure generation means to be communicated with each other, a low viscous liquid containing section communicating with the inkjet head, an ink containing section communicating with the inkjet head, and liquid selection means for allowing the inkjet head to be alternatively communicated with the low viscous liquid containing section or the ink containing section. In the maintenance method, mechanism, and device, the low viscous liquid containing section and the ink containing section are communicated with each other, a negative pressure is generated in the cap to fill the inkjet head with a low viscous liquid, and then the ink containing section and the inkjet head are communicated with each other to fill the inkjet head with ink.
