Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a light emitting diode (LED) lamp, and more particularly, to an LED lamp, which is placed on a desktop or is attached to the upper side of a desk or the ceiling of a room.
  • LED light emitting diode
  • a lamp is installed on the ceiling of a room where a desk is disposed.
  • the human body shields light from the lamp, attached to the ceiling, to generate the shadow, which makes reading difficult, and when this position is kept for a long time, the eyesight of the reader is weakened, which is problematic.
  • conventional lamps of this kind generally include an incandescent lamp or a fluorescent lamp.
  • incandescent lamp there are problems of excessive heat radiation and power consumption, which require the incandescent lamp to be frequently replaced with a new one due to its short lifetime.
  • the fluorescent lamp includes a glow switch for automatic, easy lighting.
  • ballast stabilizer such as a choke coil or the like, is used in order to restrict the current below a specific value.
  • the fluorescent lamp is highly efficient, consuming only 1/3 of the power consumed by the incandescent lamp. Further, the fluorescent lamp has advantages in that the light is soft, hardly any heat is generated, and the lifetime is long, for example about 3,000 hours, 5 to 6 times that of the incandescent lamp.
  • the florescent lamp has a rated voltage within ⁇ 6%, and when it has a higher voltage, blackening takes place, to thus shorten the lifetime. Further, if the supply voltage is low, the lamp is not lit. [11] The fluorescent lamp is reduced in its lifetime by about 1.5 hour every time it is switched on and off. Thus, it is preferable that the fluorescent lamp be used in an application where it is rarely switched on or off. Further, the characteristics of the fluorescent lamp change according to the ambient temperature, and the fluorescent lamp is difficult to light and its brightness is reduced at temperatures outside of the range of 0 to 4O 0 C. When the fluorescent lamp begins to wear out, operation thereof becomes uneconomical because the flux of light of the lamp decreases due to the deterioration of florescent materials.
  • the conventional fluorescent lamp has a problem in that noise is generated by the ballast stabilizer, so that easily distracted persons cannot concentrate on particular tasks.
  • a lamp device using the LEDs has advantages, such as higher energy efficiency and longer lifetime. It also entails the production of almost no contaminants compared to the fluorescent lamp, which has been distributed since World War II.
  • the conventional LED lamp is provided by forming holes in the upper face of a hard board having a circuit thereon, disposing LEDs holders in the holes, and connecting lead wires of the LEDs to the holders.
  • the LED when switched on, the LED emits light at its distal end, so that light cannot be focused, but is dispersed widely outside in a conical shape.
  • the present invention has been made to solve the foregoing problems with the prior art, and therefore an object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting diode (LED) lamp, in which a board is fabricated to have a curved shape in the form of an arc such that LEDs are mounted thereon, or the LEDs are mounted on a flexible printed circuit board (PCB) such that the LEDs are automatically arranged in the shape of an arc, thereby allowing the light to be collected at one point.
  • LED light emitting diode
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an LED lamp, in which a holder for storing a spare LED is installed at one portion of the LED lamp so as to make replacement easy.
  • a further object of the present invention is to provide an LED lamp, in which the flexible PCB having the LEDs installed thereon is easily installed on a post or a support as a lamp for an advertisement.
  • a light emitting diode which includes a body having an on/off switch at one end, a power connector at the other end, and a controller therein; and a lamp shade having a clamp unit, which is formed by bending both edges thereof so as to clamp a flexible PCB, a portion of the lamp shade being bent to have a curved face so as to store the flexible PCB therein, wherein the flexible PCB is inserted into the curved face of the lamp shade in a state of being bent into the shape of a semicircle, a plurality of LEDs is provided at a regular interval on the surface of the flexible PCB and auxiliary LED holders are provided on the flexible PCB, the auxiliary holders are provided on both sides of the flexible PCB, and a circuit is not connected with the auxiliary LED holders, such that spare LEDs are inserted and stored in those auxiliary holders.
  • a light emitting diode which includes a body having an on/off switch at one end, a power connector at the other end, and a controller therein; and
  • the PCB disposed in the lamp shade is provided with the flexible PCB and is bent into an arc, so that the structure can be made simple to facilitate the manufacture thereof.
  • the flexible PCB having LEDs thereon is easily bent in conformity with a shape of the lamp shade to easily collect lamp light in a desired place, thereby preventing the light from being emitting in a direction not desired by a user.
